Happy New Year! I hope your New Year is off to a great start. This year I decided not to do a new project start on New Years Day, but rather focus on getting some finishes in. So, I worked on Mirabilia’s Siren and the Shipwreck up until December 31, 2014 and here is how I left her:
She has a body and skin and I couldn’t resist doing a little stitching on the chandelier. I will get back to her soon, as she is such a sweet stitch! On January 1st, I picked up Autumn Snowman. I can’t remember if I started him in 2010 or 2011. He is a pattern in the September 2010 Cross Stitch and Needlework magazine. He is the third in a series and I am hoping some day to add the Winter snowman, too. I am stitching him on 14 ct white Aida and he is going so slow!
When I picked him up and started stitching, I noticed that the white thread doesn’t match. I had pulled all of his threads for other projects, so I had to start with new threads and the white doesn’t match the previous white. I have not had that happen before. Not sure if you can tell from this picture, but the bottom of him is more white than the rest of him. And it is going to have to stay that way as I am not ripping it out. The white is the most boring part of this guy! It doesn’t look like it in the picture, but he is about 14″ long, so there is a lot of white that would have to be pulled out. I have decided to live with it 🙂 It will be good to get this guy done and off of my WIP list.

My Time Stitching 
I love the way your mermaid is going. Those seasonal snowmen have been on my “to stitch” list ever since they were published, but I’ve never gotten to them. I’m working on a project from the Just Cross-Stitch Jan. 2013 magazine right now called “Heart Swirls,” and I’m loving it more than I thought I would a project done in just a single color (In progress picture will be in my weekly wrap-up on Wednesday. 🙂 )

Thank you RavenThreads. I can’t wait to get to the beading on Siren. She is going to be so sparkly! The seasonal snowmen are quite cute. I really want to do the Winter one, but after working on Autumn, not sure when that will happen. I get very bored stitching one color and there is a lot of white! He will be cute when finished. I know the pattern you are stitching. If I recall, it was done in red. Can’t wait to see your progress picture.

Love the snowman, I hate when the colors change on you but it still looks great he’s just in newer snow on the bottom.

Thank you Jenna. You can never go wrong with a Mira pattern. Her shading is awesome with very little backstitching. The snowman is shaded well also. Can’t wait to finish both.

They both look wonderful! Looks like you are in the home stretch on them both. As far as WIPs, I’m not sure which ones I will finish this year. I have LOTS to choose from.

Thank you, Johanna. I am determined to get some finishes in this year and get my WIP’s back to one at a time. I don’t know how you do it. But I do like the idea of picking up any WIP and continuing on. Sometimes getting started on a project is so much work. I will enjoy seeing whatever you are working on.

Amazing, beautiful work, as always. Can’t wait to see the finishes. On the snowman, the white shading looks perfect. His belly would be sticking out more & so gets more light. Brilliant!

I don’t actually have WIPs. I like to finish one project before starting another of the same discipline. I’ve broken this rule with cross stitch for the first time. Yes, I have several quilt tops waiting for me to quilt them but once the top is done I consider that a completed project. Your stitching is beautiful. The snowman is such a fun design 🙂

Thank you. I used to be a one at a time stitcher. And then I read about “rotation” and decided why not? I have hated it ever since. So now I am trying to get all the WIP’s finished so I can get back to the one project at a time. I agree that a quilt top is pretty much a completed project 😉

Thank you, Angela. When I first saw that fabric I knew it would be perfect for Siren. I am stitching like crazy on the Snowman right now. Hoping for a finish real soon and then I can get back to the SAL and the mermaid. She is going to be gorgeous!
