I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you a happy, healthy, wonderful 2016!
I had a great stitchy year in 2015 and hope to have another great one in 2016. Usually I grab something new to start on New Years, but this year I decided to work on a WIP. And this one may as well be considered a new start as I didn’t have much done on it when I picked it up. It is Ella, The Frog Princess from Mirabilia. Here is Ella when I started her in November, 2013..
Not much of a start, so that is why I say it’s like a new start 😉 Here she is after I put her down last night..
It sure is a lot of yellow. But I am trying to keep her going until I finish her. Or until a wonderful designer releases something that I just have to start right away 😉 The lovely flowers give me a nice break from the yellow when I need it.
I only received one stitchy gift for Christmas this year, but it is one that I have been wanting for quite some time. A dear friend gifted this to me..
An adorable yarn bowl!! And I have used it to make a couple of scarves already 🙂 I love it. And it looks so pretty on the table with yarn inside it.
While this next gift isn’t a stitchy item, I have designated it to be.
It is my stitchy journal made and gifted to me by my VBSF (Very Best Stitchy Friend). She made this amazing journal cover from clay. She is so talented with her new clay hobby and she knows me so well. I just love this little journal and will keep all kinds of stitchy info on projects and materials and such, inside.
And one other gift that isn’t exactly stitchy per say, but stitchy related..
Hubby bought me the Yoshi’s Wooly World game for the Wii U and I am so addicted to it! Everything in Yoshi’s world is knitted, crocheted or sewing related. Even Yoshi 🙂 As you can see in the picture, the trees and walkways all look like they were knitted or crocheted. There are buttons and crochet hooks and needles throughout. The object in each level is to find all the yarn balls to knit a new Yoshi back together. So cute and I love that all the scenery is stitching of some sort.
So that is my update for the beginning of 2016. I have a long list of things I want to accomplish in 2016. Most are stitching or craft related, like finish up WIP’s, scrapbook all of my page kits, stamp more cards, use up my yarn stash, etc., etc, etc. What do you hope to accomplish this year?
I love your yarn bowl. S/he has the cutest face. 😉
I have some tatting plans for 2016, but life tends to get in the way…

Isn’t it the cutest? My girlfriend remembered I was eyeing it many months back and she remembered. How sweet! I wish you all the best in your tatting plans. I do know how life happens 😉

Hi! Glad that you had a great holiday!
I love that yarn bowl!!! I have always wanted one, and I don’t even knit!
That is a cool journal. A mermaid… so perfect for you! Your friend is really talented.
So cute that your hubby got you a yarn unspired Yoshi game. haha. I might have to talk the boys into wanting that one. 😉

I definitely think you should convince your kids to want that one 😉 I am not very good at gaming. I love the older games when all I had to do was go left and right and jump and occasionally stick out my tongue to eat something…like yarn balls 😉 It’s the perfect game for me. You need a yarn bowl. Even if just to sit on the table. So cute.

I like the old basic games too! LOL. The new ones are just too complicated!

I agree. I get so turned around with all of the 3-D stuff. The old games are perfect. Just another thing we have in common 😉

I like Ella! But I suppose I will be thinking the same as you whenever I tackle Biancabella’s aqua!

I think I would rather do aqua than yellow, Paula. But I guess any large amount of one color can get pretty boring. I keep telling myself that I will be so happy I pushed through when she is all finished 😉

Darn that hubby of yours. Buying you a game that keeps you from stitching. It really does look fun, though. I’m just jealous. Your gifts are lovely, especially the journal! My wish list for accomplishments contains a few stitching projects that I hope to finish this year.

Hi Johanna! I think you leave anonymous posts on my blog quite often, but I always know it’s you 😉 We are connected like that, LOL (It’s in our mermaid necklace’s, ha!) I have to say, I haven’t played Yoshi since the weekend! I have been re-organizing and purging in my craft room. But my nights are for stitching. Have to get through Ella. Or as much as I can get done before the next beautiful pattern comes out that takes me over. Isn’t that journal awesome? Someone very special made it for me 🙂 Every time I want to do a project or get a project or start a project, it will be put in my journal. I can’t wait to read it at the end of the year! I wish you lots of stitchy time in 2016 to accomplish your goals 🙂

What fun gifts! And to think you played with gosh I and still got all that stitching done! Have you given up sleep for 2016?

LOL! I don’t sleep much at all. If I dragged myself out of bed and stitched when I can’t sleep, I could get even more stitching done! I really should do that, but instead I just lay there, hoping sleep will come.

You’ve done so well with the Frog Princess already! When did you start stitching it again 1st? You certainly are a speedy stitcher! I do love that some things become so old that they are new again 🙂 xx

Thanks. I believe I picked her up on the 31st. I was working on Moon Flowers, but the fabric is really giving me grief in seeing the holes and there is so much color changing in that one. So Ella it is 🙂

you are so clever with your stitching projects. I too like a lot of stitchers have a few WIPs and I have a particularly complicated (to me anyway) picture of a tiger. Will get him out and see if he needs more and then post a photo (if I don’t forget that is). I love the little yarn bowl he is cute! Your journal is super and your friend is so talented. The game….. I will have to look that one up. Happy 2016 stitching and playing lol 🙂

Thank you, Mogsya. I am still plugging away on Ella. Not too bored with her yet. I would love to see your tiger. Do check out the game. It is fun and addictive. I have sort of put myself on restriction from it this wee and only played once 😉 Have so many other things that need to get done and it is so easy to lose track of time while playing.

I love that yarn bowl.. it is tooo cute.. and the game that you are “addicted” too.. OMG i got to check that out.. 🙂 is that like a game of scrabble? where you got to form words?

Angela, the game is for the Wii U. You play it with a game controller. Moving through the different lands finding flowers and balls of yarn. It is very much like the Nintendo game Yoshi’s Island, but everything on the screen is all needlework related. So fun!
