My 2017 New Start

Happy New Year!  I hope your holidays were wonderful and that your New Year has started off with a bang!  I didn’t go out anywhere.  I stayed home and hung out with hubby and played Indoor Corn Hole!  Yep, got it for Christmas.  I just love that game.  Ever since playing it at the zoo two summers ago during Summer Zoomance.  It is quite expensive to get a nice set, so we haven’t bought one yet.  But hubby found an indoor one and bought it for me for Christmas.  For those of you who don’t know what corn hole is, it is basically like horse shoes, but you throw a beanbag into a slanted piece of wood with a hole in the middle.

It’s pretty fun.  If you like horse shoes, you would like this.  So that is what we did New Year’s Eve, while waiting for the ball to drop.  At midnight, I kissed my hubby, toasted the new year and started a new cross stitch project.

This one is going to be Nora’s Fairy Alphabet – letter “J”.  I will also be doing “O” and “Y”.

While these letters look pretty, I will be doing a conversion from a local cross stitch shop and it will look like this:

I fell in love with this piece a few years ago and purchased everything I needed to complete.  When I was going to start it a month or so ago, I realized the fabric was 28 ct and I really didn’t want to work on 28 ct so soon after mermaid 😉  So I looked everywhere for a green I wanted and settled on the 16ct Aida Simply Sage from Hand Dyed Farbics by Stephanie.  The color is actually a little brighter green than my photo.  I just couldn’t capture the true color.  If you are interested in the conversion of these letters, you can find it here.

That’s it for me.  It’s cold and I am going to go and stitch for a bit, under a warm blanket 🙂  I hope the new year is a wonderful one for all of us.  Did you start a new project to bring in the New Year?

  1. We play cornhole in Ohio all the time. Mostly during OSU tailgate/barbeque parties. I have no depth perception, so don’t ever let someone put me on your team! Love the fabric you settled on for JOY. Someday I will start it too!

    1. I would still pick you for my team, Bestie! We would have fun playing. But I can get very addicted to this game and won’t let anyone else play, LOL. I think I am really going to enjoy my new project. Way more relaxing than 28ct. The little fairy is so tiny!! Just love her!

  2. It looks like your new year started off wonderfully, Ginny! Have a great rest of the year ahead. ☺
You’re right, this game is addicting (even though I’m bad at it.)
I love the letters and the colors in them. Happy stitching!

  3. Thanks, Anita. I hope the new year is great for all of us. I think I have a very addictive personality, and I think I could play corn hole everyday if I could find someone to play with, LOL. I suppose I could play alone, and it may help me to get better at 🙂 I am enjoying stitching on the little fairy even though I have already made a mistake on her legs. But they are so full of 1/4 and 3/4 stitches that it is going to stay like that and I will make do with the backstitching.

  4. That’s looks like a fun game. At this time of year, it’s probably better and more fun that it’s an inside game.
Your fairy is so pretty. I look forward to seeing your progress.
Wishing you joy and good fun in 2017! 🙂

  5. Cornhole always looks like so much fun even though I’ve never played it! Yay for an inside version that you can play while cozily in your house!!!

Love your version of J O Y. I like it better than the original.

Happy New Year to you, dear Ginny!

    1. Oh you should try it, Fawn. It is fun. I am addicted 🙂 I also like the conversion of JOY much better than the originals. So far I am enjoying stitching on the J and I look forward to stitching the other 2 as well. Happy New Year to you and may only good things come to you this year.

  6. Your enthusiasm is infectious Ginny! Love the start to your new project for 2017. Really must get my cross stitching kicked started as I can do this outdoors as well as in when the weather permits. Much luck and joy for 2017 to you and yours! 🙂
