Winners and Ella Update

Good morning, blogging friends.  Another cold, cloudy day here and snow on the way…in April!  Though that is not so unusual here in Michigan.  But I was really hoping for Spring.

I pulled names for my blogaversary give-away and they are as follows:

The Knitting give-away:  Nicola Florence

Cross Stitch give-away:  Gretchen Parker

Congratulations, ladies.  Send me an email at ginny@mytimestitching.com with your addresses and I will get your prizes out to you.  So sorry for the delay.

Now for an update on my stitching.  I have been steadily stitching on Ella and am making pretty good progress on her.

Ella update 1

I am almost finished with the ruffles and then I can move onto her waist and arms and I am so excited!!  She is really beginning to come alive.

Ella update 2

In case you are seeing her for the first time, she is Ella, the Frog Princess by Mirabilia.  I am stitching her on 16ct Aida Pandora from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.  Just LOVE how she is turning out.

I also have a new app I have been playing with on my phone.  It is called Xstitch.  Have you heard of it?

I heard about it in one of the facebook groups and it sounded like something I needed.  So I bought it for $2.99 and started playing around with it.  It was a little confusing, because I wanted it to do somethings a little different.  You can keep track of your WIP’s and supplies, keep an inventory of  fabrics and threads you have.  It doesn’t have a list for Sullivan Threads or Mill Hill beads and treasures.  You can keep track of charts and kits and wish lists.  So I have been adding things little by little to the app so I can keep track of what I am working on, and where all of my threads are.  I also am going to add all of my inventory and projects that I have kitted up and ready to go and to keep track of charts I have and any supplies that I have for that chart.  It will be nice when I go to the cross stitch store, too.  I can keep a shopping list on it, too.  So have you heard of this app or are you using it?  What do you think of it?

    1. Thank you for your comment on Ella. I am quite happy with her and am anxious to get her finished. You should check out the app. I don’t have many apps on my phone, but this one sounded like a must have. I like it so far. Glad to hear that the sun is shining where you are. I think it will arrive here next week 😉

  2. The app was talked about a lot on flosstube. I can’t remember who was the stitcher. I bought it but it wasn’t long before I stopped using it. But that’s just me 😛 I don’t do as much cross stitch as I used to.

    1. Hi Dima. I almost gave up on it as it seemed like I was getting duplicate entries and didn’t have a place to store the charts I have. I am using the wish list part of it to keep track of the patterns I have that may have a fabric with it or some specialty threads. It will take me a long time to get everything into it, but I am hoping it will be a good tool.

    1. I am getting pretty excited, Anita. Pretty soon I will be stitching her waist and adding some hands and arms!! The app is working out pretty good so far. I can look at a glance to see what I have kitted up and WIP’s and where threads are. I still have a long way to go to adding everything I have, but I think it will be great. Especially when shopping 🙂

  3. WHAT is up with winter? It just won’t quit! I think our next snow storm will end up as mostly rain tonight and tomorrow – one can only hope. But we still have the snow drifts on the north side of the house, and everything else is brown and drab. Unlike Ella who is looking lovely! How smart of you to start at the bottom and save the fun parts for last. 🙂

The app sounds interesting – almost like a ravelry notebook for cross stitch? It seems like a good ting if it allows you to track the threads and bits you actually have, instead of only what they think you should have, lol.

    1. Winter is still here! We have had rain for 3 days and yesterday it decided to snow and freezing rain last night and it was so cold! Snow on the ground today, just enough to cover everything. Thank goodness we didn’t get the 3″ that was predicted. Sunday’s prediciton…70 degrees!!! I am wishing for Spring for all of us. I am so excited about Ella! I started a hand last night! I always start my cross stitches in the middle and work my way down, and then from the middle up. That way, the beautiful face is last and gives me something to work forward to. I know many people start with the top and when they get the face done, they put it down. I think I probably would, too. So I leave it for last 🙂 While I have the Ravelry app on my phone, I don’t use the notebook. Just the library to save my patterns, so not sure if it is similar to the Xstitch app or not. I am liking the app so far though and slowly putting everything into it.

  4. First time of me hearing of the app but now hearing from you about it and reading about it just know on the App Store I think I’m going to get it and try it out. Happy stitching of Ella for the rest of the weekend 😁❤️

    1. It was my first time, too, Ivyjade234. I am using the Wishlist part of it to store my charts (so I don’t buy them twice 😉 and so I can put a picture there. And I copy all kits to my journal so that I can store a picture there and also put my fabric under linen if I have already chosen a fabric. I think it’s a pretty good app and will keep me organized on the go. I hope you have fun with it, too.

      1. Ya sounds like a really great idea to not buy extra of threads or fabric when you already have lots(happened with a time of colour of thread I have five satins for) 😁❤️

    1. I would need those apps, too, MrsCraft, but I would probably blow my phone up, LOL It would probably take me longer to put all that stuff in than to actually use it. I still have a long ways to go to adding all of my Xstitch stuff, but I have a good amount in so far. Haven’t added anything lately, but that would entail going through my filing cabinet and trunks of fabrics and bins of beads and threads. Slowly but surely I will get them all in.
