My New Look And An Update

If you have been following my blog and are visiting today, you will notice my blog has a new look.  The theme I was using has been retired, and I thought I needed an update.  I spent hours this morning looking at themes WordPress has to offer.  I just couldn’t find what I wanted.  Or let’s just say I am not a big fan of change.  I think that is more the issue than finding something I liked.  I’m not that great of a computer user either, so the choice was hard.  I have settled on this look for now.  I am still looking 😉  So now for an update on what I have been up to.

I have finished Ella, the Frog Princess.  I finished her on May 8, and am so pleased with how she turned out. Have a look:

ella-completed-1.jpg

She is not heavily beaded, but enough to add some sparkle to her.  She is a Mirabilia pattern and is stitched on 16ct Aida Pandora from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.

I have also started the Passione Ricamo Mystery SAL, Moon Sweet Moon and am loving this one.

PR Mystery SAL 5 start

This will be a fairy and a very large moon.  I can’t wait to see if the fairy will be sitting in the moon or flying in front of it.  I believe that Laura has re-opened this one for purchase if you want to get in on this one.  Click here for the info on her site.  I am on section 3 and have section 4 to do before section 5 comes out next week.  I am stitching her on a 16ct Aida fabric that was special made for me by Fantasy Dyed Fabrics.  I love it.  It has a bit of a purple hue to it that the photo doesn’t show, but I think it will be perfect for a night sky.

I have also put a few stitches into the Mystery Sampler from Linen and Threads.

Mystery Sampler February section

I am afraid I am quite a bit behind on this one.  I am still working on the February section.  But that’s ok.  I am totally loving this one, too.  I am stitching this on 16ct Aida Castle View from Silkweaver.  I am using Sullivans Variegated thread London Fog and DMC 3888 (which is not part of their line, but a specialty thread).

So that is what I have been up to aside from making cards with some new products I found at the local Scrapbook convention.  More on that in my next post 🙂  So what are you working on these days?

  1. I like your new look! Ella turned out beautifully! You should be so proud of her. I’m looking forward to updates on the PR Mystery. And, most importantly, you are getting way to close to catching up to me on the Sampler mystery. I better get to stitching on this one!

    1. Thank you, Johanna. I am very proud of Ella and so glad I stuck with all that yellow and finished her. I am already getting behind in the PR SAL, but I am hoping to get caught up soon. Don’t worry about me catching you on the Mystery Sampler. I think I have to put that aside for a while to catch up on the fairy. You are doing great on yours. Love your colors. Figuring out where to put what colors has held me up on this one. Maybe I will wait and see what you do and then copy 🙂

    1. Thank you, Marsha. I can’t wait to see what Moon, Sweet Moon is going to look like, too. I will keep you posted. The last one is not complicated at all. I love stitching on it because I don’t have to change thread colors. It is so relaxing. Thank you for visiting and your kind words ❤

    1. Thank you, Julie. I wish I had time to do more. I have spent the entire day on the computer. Just think how much stitching I could have done today 😉 I do what I can when I can. This update is a couple of weeks worth, so not really so much all at once. I am only 1/2 finished with the Feb. section of the Sampler. But just think…with us being behind, we get to see what everyone’s colors look like and the way they stitched the sections 😉

    1. Thank you E.C. I am so happy to be done with Ella and pleased with how she turned out. I am about to run out of a major thread on the Moon, Sweet Moon piece. I only ordered 1 instead of 2 but I am hearing we may need up to 4. Good thing I have 2 on order. I can’t find any locally, so I hope my order comes in soon. If not, I will hop over to the Mystery Sampler which is such a relaxing stitch. Really loving that one. And thank you for your comment about my blog’s new look. I think I will keep it this way for now 😉 Thank you for stopping by 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet comments, Catherine. I love Ella, too and so happy to be finished with her and all of her yellow 😉 I agonized so much about my blog. I’m glad you like it. I LOVE pink, and I like the clean look of this blog, so I think I will keep it 🙂

  5. Oh the princess turned out so beautifully, I’m so glad you have finally finished it. I really like the start of your fairy and the moon piece and I can’t wait to see what it will look like when it’s all finished. Your SAL sampler is coming along nicely too and it’s okay if your still in February for it the point of stitching is to enjoy it. As for me on what I’ve been up to I have been up to more then I can write down in a comment. 😁❤️

    1. Thank you, Ivyjade234. I am happy to have finished Ella. Not in a hurry to get her framed just yet, as I really have run out of wall space. I am loving the Moon, Sweet Moon piece and am trying to get it caught up, but I am about to run out of a major thread and replacements are still on order. Hopefully they will arrive soon so I can continue on. If not, there is the Mystery Sampler which I so enjoy stitching. Sounds like you are busy gal 🙂

      1. Well at least you have back up projects to work on when you have to wait for threads to come in. I am sometimes busy, I like working on more then one project and just working on whatever I fancy at the time of day. 😁❤️

  7. i think I rather like the new look and feel, it is so pretty, and soft and relaxing. 🙂
Ella looks great, and all the ruffles on the dress was worth all the yellow stitching.
I think the new fairy is going to be a lovely surprise, and as always, I am loving your sampler, that is surely a favourite of mine.
Enjoy the week and warmer summer weather, and happy crafting. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Joey. I really did agonize over the decision. I LOVE pink and I do like the clean look. I will keep it for now 🙂 I am just so resistant to change, but I think this one is a good one. Ella was definitely all the work on the yellow dress. I love how she turned out and can’t stop myself from admiring her every time I pass her. She is sitting on the back of the couch for now. I can’t wait to see more of Moon, Sweet Moon. I am trying to get caught up but I have about 18″ left of a major thread in the moon. More is on order, but not here yet, so it my be back to the Sampler, which I just LOVE stitching. It is such a calm, relaxing piece. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful, crafty weekend also 🙂

  8. I love, love the new look. As littleblackdogsa says, it is pretty and relaxing. I think it is perfect! Frog Princess is delightful and I can’t wait to see how you frame her! The two mysteries are both very different but both very interesting. Keep up the good work! xxx

    1. Thank you, Christine. I do love the new look with clean, pink appearance. I’m glad everyone seems to like it. It was a long, hard decision, but I like it, too. No plans to frame Ella any time soon. I have no wall space for her. And I want to find the perfect frame. I think an Oval would be lovely for her, but beyond that, I haven’t given much thought yet. I will keep you posted on both SAL’s. I am loving them both.

  9. Ginny – I will have to actually visit the blog to see the new look (I usually read it in my reader) but I am sure it will be lovely, you have a good eye. 🙂

And Ella – ! Well, let’s say she is so pretty it took me a while to realize she wears the yellow dress you worked so hard to like, lol. I love all the little details in it, and your stitching is superb. You other projects are going to be just as lovely.

  10. Thank you, Salpal1. I’m glad you like it. I really like it, too. Some of the other themes I was looking at took up the whole computer screen and my photos seemed so large. So I was happy to find this one. I think it has everything I wanted 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to check it out 🙂

  11. Ooh look at that, Ella is done! And she looks beautiful.
Ugh I too don’t really like the themes on WordPress, and picked some just because I got bored of browsing and sampling. Good luck if you decide on more changes! ☺

    1. Thank you, Nicola Florence. I am so glad you like it and find it welcoming. Change is not easy for me, but I am happy with what I have settled on. And thank you for the plug on your blog 🙂 I am so happy you received the package and are having fun “squishing” the yarn ❤

  12. Wow! I love the new look! Is beautiful 🙂 Ella came out fantastic; I love it. I wish I can stitch fast and finish my Mira and my Passione Ricamo. Anyway, your other SALs are coming up nicely. May I ask which frame do you use? (if any?) I am thinking of purchasing one but I’ve been thinking about it for like 5 months now (Lol) and can’t decide on one. I was thinking on the lowery frame, since I can put my qsnap on it but I don’t know. At the moment I have an 11×11 and 11×17 qnap for bigger projects and 8×8 for smaller.

    1. Thank you, Crafty Stitcher. I don’t really stitch fast. I just try to stitch every night 😉 I do get cranky when I don’t get to stitch 😉 I use a simple split scroll frame for stitching. I have used Q-snaps a couple of times and they are good for small projects, but I prefer the scroll frames. The ones that I have were purchased from Joann’s or Michaels years ago. I wouldn’t purchase from there now as the quality is not good at all. Not sure where you can get the split scroll frames now, but I’m sure googling them would give you some results. Maybe Herschner’s? I hope you find something you like. We do need to stitch comfortably, don’t we?

  13. I love and bought Ella so I hope to start her someday but right now I’m working on Comet the Reindeer, another Mirabilia. I just bought the most expensive piece of fabric I ever purchased for Snow Queen. It has snowy trees and looks to be a gorgeous background for her. I hope it’s as beautiful as the photo. I was going to do a mermaid next but I feel I must start Snow Queen when Comet is finished to justify my purchases because I had to order her beads and treasures. Thanks for sharing

  14. I see you are a Nora fan. I too LOVE her work. I was so happy to have finished Ella. So much yellow. I have yet to frame her though. Hubby says there is no where to hang her, so I have figure out how I am going to rotate all of my stitchings so I can enjoy them all. Currently I have 5 in a corner, waiting their turn for display. I have all of the reindeer, but have not stitched one yet. I did do one on a round robin, but not for myself. Snow Queen is also kitted up waiting to be stitched. I did see that lovely fabric with the trees and have contemplated changing my fabric. She will be gorgeous with all fo the snow trees around her. I’d love to see her when you get her started.
