Happy New Year!

Happy 2019!!  I wish for everyone a very happy, healthy and loving New Year!  I am looking forward to having a great year.  I did not make any New Years Resolutions list this year, as most of the time I failed and did not want to set myself up for failure this year.  There are things I want to do, accomplish and finish, but if I don’t do them this year, there is always the next, right?

I already have my first finish for 2019.  I tried my best to get it done by midnight on New Years Eve, but I just couldn’t get it done.  I frantically stitched from 9:00-midnight, but was still hours away from a finish. So I finished it on the night of January 1st.  Here it is:

I am so happy with how this one turned out.  This photo really doesn’t do it justice.  The fabric is a beautiful 16ct Aida peach with gray, hand dyed by Johanna from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics.  I stitched with DMC 53 and DMC 310.  The pattern sections are still available from Linen and Threads as well as the 2017 one and the first section of the 2019 Mystery Sampler.  I haven’t fully decided if I want to do another year long sampler, but the first section is beautiful and I look forward to seeing more.

And I have to share a wonderful gift I received on Christmas from my sweet husband.

addi needles

A set of Addi knitting needles.  I have 2 addi circulars and I LOVE stitching with them.  There is nothing like knitting with these metal needles.  They just glide so wonderfully!  I was with him when he purchased them at the knitting store just a few days before Christmas as he didn’t know if I would like the short needles or the longer ones.  Definitely the longer ones 🙂

New Year’s Day was earmarked as Lego Day, and so I created this:

lighthouse legos

The Friends’ Heartlake  Lighthouse 🙂  I had a nice lego day 🙂

I am getting back to stitching on the mermaid SAL and will post my progress soon.  That is what I have been up to.  I’d love to hear what you have been up to?

  1. well done on your Sampler – I love the variagated thread, especially on the mermaids.
Your new set of knitting needles look fab! One day I might splash out on some really posh needles, but I need to get a few knitted finishes under my belt first.

    1. Legos are so fun! I didn’t have them as a kid. When my kids were little I bought them Legos to see if it was something they would like. They did. And who knew that I would fall in love with them, too. I loved building the “boy” sets with my boys, but I really love the pink Legos and all of the Friends sets. So much fun!

    1. Thank you, Salpal1 ❤ I am so happy I was able to keep up with the Sampler. I love how it turned out. I know the Addis needles will be very loved. I just wish that there were more sizes in the cables. It seems that mine came with 3 very long ones. I'll have to look into it. They are like butta!

  2. Heck, I would still call it a 2018 finish!!
    It’s beautiful.
They have such cute Lego sets now, so fun.
    Great gift from hubby!
I started Hands On 12 days ornaments for my Jan 1st start.
Hope to do 1 per month.
    Happy New Year!!

    1. Marilyn, my husband said the same thing about calling it a 2018 finish. I was wondering what year I would put in my signature, but then I realized that my initials and the year 2018 are already on the sampler, so n need to add at the bottom. Lego’s really have come a long way, haven’t they? So many fun things to make. Oh I love your idea of doing an ornament every month! Every year I say I am going to do ornaments and I never do. I am going to consider doing an ornament every month. Thank you!

  3. Love the sampler, Ginny! The variegated threads do look fabulous, and your color choice has totally worked out amazingly. Your Lego Lighthouse is lovely, and the needles – they’re a wonderful, wonderful gift! I’m sure you’ll have a great time using them.
I’m not sure I’ll take up the 2019 sampler in the form it is. The peacock looks beautiful, but I might just use parts of the sampler in future creative endeavors. Like you, I’ll still wait for February to see if I change my mind. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Anita ❤ I am so happy with how the sampler turned out and am looking forward to getting it framed. I am looking forward to doing a lot of knitting this year and using my new Addis needles. They will make knitting fun! I keep thinking about the 2019 Sampler and seeing beautiful, colorful peacocks in the group. I'm still thinking of using 1 color if I decide to do it. Wanting to see more of the design first.

Your finished project turned out beautifully. I Love it. 🙂
Isn’t Lego so much fun? Just as much fun as building puzzles.
