A Finish, A near Finish and A New Start!

Hello my blogging friends!  It’s a bit of a snowy day outside, so I am inside, organizing, cleaning and now it’s time for a blog post 🙂  Thanksgiving is over, and I kept my emotions under check better than I expected to.  And ever since, I have been cleaning and organizing and making piles to give away and donate.  I tend to do this when I am sad or angry.  It feels good to get organized and having things put into place.  I really cleaned my laundry room and my craft room, making room for new storage containers 😉  I am hoping my craft room will be better organized for me to get in there and get my Christmas cards made and get back to my scrapbooking.  Now onto stitching stuff!

First, I have a finish.  Pink Princess is complete and I am over the moon in love with her. I even found the little butterfly bead to put into her hand instead of stitching a butterfly.  Not sure if you can see it in the photo.  It is a beautiful bead with blues and greens and purples and pinks.  Perfect for her hand.

I think she turned out so amazing!  She is Dawn, the Fairy Spirit of Grace by Passione Ricamo.  I stitched her without the wings, even though she is a beauty with them as well.  I stitched her on 16ct Aida Tintagel from Fabrics by Stephanie.  A gorgeous Princess on a gorgeous piece of fabric.

So now I am back to stitching on the Treasures of the Deep piece.  November mermaid is up right now.

Treasures of the Deep SAL November

I finished all the stitching last night.  I am hoping to get the backstiching all done tonight so that I can dive into a new project.   Yeah, I know, another project, right?  Anyway, this one is Treasures of the Deep SAL from Shannon Christine designs.  The fabric is 16ct Aida Maldivian Dreams from Fiberlicious.  Just December and January left of this SAL and then all the gorgeous, sparkly beads can be added.  This one is really blinged to the max!

So, what is my new project you ask?  Well, it is another mermaid.  This one is Aquamarina from Bella Filapina. I ordered her in August and she arrived sometime in October.  I quickly gathered up all the DMC threads, beads and Kreiniks for her and special ordered a fabric for her.  Last night I received this gorgeous fabric and I squealed with delight!

fabric for Aquamarina from FDFOh my gosh!  Isn’t it just breathtaking?  It is 16ct Aida from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics.  Johanna did an amazing job on creating this one for me.  So I am hoping to start this new project tomorrow, even if I have to stay up super late finishing the back stitching on the November mermaid.

So that is what I am up to today.  What are you stitching on?  Do you have a new project you want to get started on?

Pink Makes Me Happy

I’m not in the best of moods, but seeing my pink stitching makes me smile.  So I finally got around to blocking that knitted baby blanket I finished a little while back.

Knitted baby blanket being blocked

I’m not sure if I stretched it a bit too much, but it looked so beautiful all stretched out.  And then I found a mistake.  Can you see it?  Well, there isn’t anything I can do about it now, so I have accepted that it is part of its charm.

My hearts are a bit wonky, but I think it turned out rather lovely.  It looks so sweet hanging over the couch.  Maybe someday it will wrap around a sweet little one.

For now I will put it away for a special someone.

I have been working on the Pink Princess, and here is how she looks today.

Pink Princess progress 3

She is coming along beautifully and she really makes me smile when I look at her.  All of those beautiful shades of pink!  And her black hair is stunning with the pink.  I won’t be stitching the wings, so I am getting close to finishing the stitching.  Then I will be on to the back stitching and beading.  I purchased a butterfly bead 3 years ago when I first started stitching this one, but I can’t seem to find it.  So I had better get to looking today so that I can decide if I will stitch the butterfly in her hand or not.  For those seeing her for the first time, she is Dawn, the Fairy Spirit of Grace by Passione Ricamo.  I am stitching her on 16ct Tintagel from Fabrics by Stephanie.  Love this fabric!  It is so perfect for my Pink Princess, having just the right amount of pink scattered here and there.

And I picked up my crocheting yesterday to see how my elbows would do.

My elbows did ok, but I could feel them getting achy just after a few rows, so I stopped.  I had a bit of a problem with the popcorn row.  The popcorn puffs were quite easy.  I was only supposed to have 23 and I ended up with 24 😦  So much for my lesson.  I pulled it out a couple of times and recounted stitches in the row before.  I seemed to have the correct amount and just couldn’t figure it out, so I left the 24 popcorns and moved on.  I was so frustrated, I was ready to toss it in the garbage.  Instead, I threw it into a heap on my basket.  The right elbow is still sore today, so not sure when I will pick it up again.  I may have to wait until next week and make another trip to see the crochet expert.

So tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  I am having mixed emotions about the day, hence my moodiness.   If you are celebrating this holiday tomorrow, I wish you a wonderful day with family and friends.  If you are not celebrating, I wish you a wonderful day 🙂

Only One More Section To Go

November section of Mystery Sampler

Wow!  I can’t believe that there is only one more month to go with this Sampler!  I finished the November section last night.  I have enjoyed stitching on this one and I am looking forward to seeing what the December section is. In case you are interested, this is a FREE pattern from Linen and Threads.  This one is the 2018 Mystery Sampler and you can download all of the patterns to create this beauty.  I believe the 2017 Mystery Sampler is still on their website, too and I am hearing that there will be a 2019 one also. All for FREE.  So wonderful for them to do this.  I am stitching this one on 16ct Aida OOAK from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics.  It is more of a peach color with gray.  I just can’t seem to capture the true color of this one on camera.  I am using DMC threads 53 and 310.  I love the look of the threads on this one and I can’t wait to unroll it and see all of it at once.  But next year I am thinking of using just one color.  What will it be???

And this morning, this is what I woke up to:

And it is still snowing 😦  I am definitely not ready for winter and this white stuff.  It’s a good thing that I have lots of projects to work on 😉  Now to decide what project I will pick up this afternoon…I am still nursing the elbows, but I am really itching to pick up the hook and crochet on the blanket…

So what are you working on today?

Extra Hour of Stitching

Hello my blogging friends.  This last weekend we turned the clocks back an hour for Daylight Savings Time.  So now it will get darker earlier and be lighter earlier in the morning.  I used my extra hour wisely.  By stitching 😉

Pink princess progress 2

In between laundry yesterday, and with my extra hour, I was able to finish the bottom half of the dress, minus the beads.  This piece is so wonderful to stitch on.  I am loving every stitch and do not want to put it down.  But this morning I put her away so that I can get to stitching on the November section of the Mystery Sampler.  For those seeing this one for the first time, it is Dawn, the Fairy Spirit of Grace by Passione Ricamo.  I am stitching her on 16ct Aida Tintagel from Fabrics by Stephanie.  It truly is a gorgeous piece of fabric.  The next time I pull her out, I do hope to finish her.  I plan on stitching her without the wings, just because I think she looks like a Princess.  My Pink Princess.

This weekend, I also fell off the wagon 😦  After going through all of my knitting and crochet projects and writing them all down and organizing them, I put myself on the “Do Not Buy More Yarn” list.  Well, my local yarn shop was celebrating their 1 year anniversary and having a trunk show with AJHC Wools yarns and a bag show.  I couldn’t resist either! Here is what I purchased:

New yarn stash and shawl pattern

The yarn is from a gal in Michigan who dyes her own yarns.  There were so many beautiful yarns, I had trouble deciding.  But I settled on a peach yarn with orange to rust speckles called “Rhea”.  I will be using it on the shawl pattern which I have been eyeing from Janina Kallio of Woolenberry called Floral.  It is a beautiful lacy shawl with a sweet picot edging. It is available on Ravelry if you are interested.  Woolenberry has the most beautiful shawl patterns.  I can tell this one will take my undivided attention.  No tv watching on this one! And this makes #62 in my stash of projects!  I do have a serious problem, but no judging!

The bag is from Mid Mitten Designs, and I just LOVE the clear window in the front.  There were 3 different size bags, this one being the middle sized one. They are a bit pricey, but are very well made.  It is perfect for holding this project until I am ready to get started on it.  My husband says I can’t start it until I get the other 61 projects done. Ha Ha Ha!  I am so tempted to start it now,  but I will have to wait a bit as I am still having issues with my elbows.  I am trying to be patient, but it is taking so long.

So, how much yarn is in your projects or cross stitch projects are in your stash?  I’d love to hear about them 🙂
