The Flu, a Finish and Some Stitching

Hello blogging friends!  I feel like I have been missing in action for months.  So grab your favorite beverage as this may be a long post 🙂  I am finally recovering from having the flu for the last 2 weeks.  The first week I didn’t do much except ache, sleep and fight a fever.  Ugh, I am so glad that is over.  Just before getting sick, I went to Joanns craft store and bought some crystals to finish my Chandelier piece.  I came home and laid them out and then went back again and picked up more to cover all the places I wanted a jewel to hang.  So last week I sat and sewed them all on.  Here is my finished piece.

I really like how it came out.  The crystals are sparkly, even though they don’t show much here.  And I am glad to have this finish off the scroll frame.   This was a AAN SAL stitched on 16ct Winter Solstice from Fabrics by Stephanie.   Here are a couple of more pictures.

I also finished the March Mermaid on the Treasures of the Deep SAL by Shannon Christine Designs.

Mermaid SAL march mermaid

This is a SAL put out by Fiberlicious and I am stitching it on 16ct Maldivian Dreams by Fiberlicious.  I also stitched a couple of more frames to be ready for the next few mermaids.  There will be 12 in all, each mermaid representing a birth month.  So sweet!

I also stitched on the 2nd block of the PR 20th anniversary piece and this is how far I am before putting it away.

I have pulled out an old WIP to work on for now.  I call her the Pink Princess.

Pink Princess progress

I will be stitching her without the wings.  I started her March 2015.  I can’t believe it has been 3 years!  The fabric is amazing!  It is 16ct Tintagel from Fabrics by Stephanie.  I am LOVING all the pink in this one.  It’s going to be amazing!

And when I am not stitching, I am working on a new hobby; Diamond Painting!  My best stitchy friend sent me a custom made Diamond Painting for my Birthday.  It is actually a picture of a photograph I had taken a couple of years ago.  It was such a thoughtful gift and I am loving Diamond Painting.

Diamond Painting

I am about 1/2 finished placing all the little tiles down.  I find it quite addicting.  When I plan about a half hour to work on it, several hours can go by.  It is very peaceful and calming. If you don’t know what Diamond Painting is, it is kind of like cross stitching, but without a needle.  The canvas is a sticky pattern filled with little squares with symbols that correspond to a colored tile.  Much like a colored cross stitch pattern.  The tiles are picked up with a pen with wax in the bottom of it and the tiles are placed on the corresponding symbol.  I am loving it and already thinking about my next canvas 😉  I am not going to reveal the finished picture just yet.  Can you tell what it is?

Well, I think I have taken up enough of your time for now.  I am happy to be doing better and getting back to a normal routine.  What have you been crafting on lately?

Busy Time of Year, But Still Stitching

Hello blogging friends!  How is your December going?  Can you believe it is almost the middle of December already?  I have gotten quite a bit done, but still a few things left on my to do list.  I am reserving my evenings to stitch so that I can relax after the busy days.  So what have I been up to?  Well, first, I finished the stitching on the Chandelier SAL from AAN.

chandelier finish

I love how this one has turned out so far.  I say so far, because where the little metallic stitchings are, there is supposed to be some bling 🙂  I am still waiting on an ornament pack from AAN.  I hope it arrives soon as I really want this one to be finished so I can get it framed.  I love chandeliers with all their sparkles and shine.  I want this one to have lots of sparkle.  So when I receive those embellishments, I will be sure to update you on this one.  Stitched on 16ct Aida Winter Solstice from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.

Next up is the Wherefore Art Thou piece from Nora Corbett.

Wherefore Art Thou progress 2

I did a little stitching on this one.  I am really sad that, in person, the pink fabric really shows through the stitching.  The only thing I can determine is that the weeks dyed threads and colorworks threads are thinner than DMC and so the coverage on Aida is not as well.  If I were to start this one again, I would definitely do it in DMC instead of the hand dyed threads.  I am trying to keep plugging away at it since I have invested so much money into the hand dyed threads, but it is really hard.  The fabric is 16ct Aida Pink Impatiens by Silkweaver.  So I put her aside and started a new project.

White Angel Trumpet Start

This is Angel White Trumpet from the Poison Pixie series by Nora Corbett.  This one really called to me.  I knew I wanted to start her as soon as I received her.  I had this perfect fabric.  16ct Aida,  one of a kind from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics.  I worked on her for about 3 evenings and then decided I needed to get back to the Mystery Sampler to do the December section so I can get it finished before the end of the year.

Mystery Sampler Dec section

The December section is awesome and maybe the largest band.  I do hope to get it done by the end of the year.  I am stitching this one on 16ct Aida Castleview from Silkweaver. The threads are London Fog from Sullivans and DMC 3888.  There will be a new sampler in 2018 by the same designer that designed this one.  I do plan to do it, but want to see the first section to help me decide on fabric and thread colors.

Before I go, I wanted to share a post that I saw on another blog this morning:

You can also read about her and visit the Bumblebee Acres blog and read more and see the scrumptious yarns they have for sale.  I purchased the pattern this morning and am still deciding on some of their yarns.  If you want to help out this gal, you can make a donation or the purchase of her Joyful and Cozy pattern has all the proceeds going to help her get the insulin pump that will give make things easier for her .  I am not affiliated with this company and I don’t know  Sam Bee.  I am just passing on the info to help someone out.

So, that is what I have been up to.  Along with decorating the house, putting up the tree, cleaning and purging as I go, Christmas shopping, wrapping gifts and finally getting my Christmas cards finished today.  So how are your December plans going and what are you doing to relax at the end of your busy days?

Getting Caught Up

Hello friends!  It’s been a little bit.  So much has happened in the last 2 months.  I can’t even seem to recall it all at this minute, so I will write about my stitchy stuff 🙂  First, I am now caught up with the Chandelier SAL from AA Needleworks.

WIN_20171029_131448

I am stitching this one 16ct Aida Winter Solstice from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.  While the holographic thread doesn’t show up well on the fabric, I decided to go ahead and stitch with it, hoping that it will give some added shimmer to the beads.  I believe that the last section is to be released on November 1, 2017, but not much has been posted in the group.  I am also supposed to be receiving a bead pack from the designer, but haven’t received that either.  I guess there are only 7 people that signed up for this one, but it really hasn’t been covered or updated well in the facebook group.  I LOVE chandeliers, so I knew I just had to do this one.

Next up is the Mystery Sampler from Linen and Threads.  I finished the October section yesterday.

img_2063-2.jpg

I am stitching this one 16ct Aida Castleview from Silkweaver.  I am using Sullivan threads “London Fog” and DMC 3888.  This is an amazing sampler.  I have loved every stitch of this one.  You can still get in on this one, for FREE!  All 11 sections (November was released a couple of days ago) are on the Linen and Threads website.  And I hear the designer is working on one for 2018!!!  And it will also be FREE!  How generous and awesome is that?

Remember the Temperature blanket I was working on?  Well, I have abandoned that project.  It seems I still don’t have the hang of ending and beginning my rows without a pattern.  So rather than tear it all out, I ended it and will figure out something to do with it.  I really didn’t like the colors anyway, so no sweat on ditching that one.  I have started “The Spicier Life Blanket” from Sandra at Cherry Heart Blog.  I have the first section done.

I’m not sure I like the bottom colors, but hoping it will look better as a whole.  Sections 2, 3 and 4 have been released, but I haven’t been confident enough to pick it back up as of yet.  I hear there are some difficult rows in those sections and I don’t want to get frustrated right now.

I have also worked on the cowl I started with the Lion Brand “Shawl in a Ball.  It is getting quite long.

This project has been deemed my “travel project”.  So I pretty much have only worked on it in the car.  I am nearing the end of the skein, so I may pick it up a bit more to get it finished.  It has knitted up soft and I just love the colors.  I can’t wait to finish it so I can wear it this winter, which is coming soon I hear.  But, fall is still here and I will leave you with a couple of photos I took last week while hubby and I visited Northern Michigan to see the beautiful colors.  The first day we were there was beautiful and sunny.  After we had driven through the tunnel of trees for about 1/2 hour, it started raining.  I didn’t get as many nice pictures as I had wanted.  Instead, I chose to breathe in the beauty not behind the camera.  And it was hard to get good pictures through the windshield of the car anyway.

This was the view from our hotel room.  I wish it had been a sunny day, as the view of the bay was beautiful the day before.  But here you can see the beautiful colors of the changing trees.

So what have you been up to lately?

A Framing, A Start, Ready for a Start and Progress!

Hello Bloggers!  I think it is finally Spring here.  In fact, this was happening outside my front door in my Rhododendron bush:

cardinal in her nest

This Mama was so busy making this nest.  It was wonderful watching her.  Then last week I noticed a broken egg on my porch.  So I frantically tried looking in the nest to see if there were any more eggs and yes, there were 3 more.

cardinal nest of eggs.jpg

I do hope that nothing gets to the other eggs and I can see little baby birds soon.  So exciting.

More excitement…look what made it home from the framers yesterday:

framed Journey Into The Deep 1

A Journey Into the Deep by Passione Ricamo.  She is soooo beautiful!  And so big!  And already hanging on the wall.  Right at the end of my hallway, so everytime I go upstairs, I can look at all her gorgeousness!  She was stitched on 28ct Lugana Pixie Dust from Silkweaver.  So happy to have this awesome mermaid finished and hanging up.  Here are a few more pictures of her:

I am making slow progress on Ella.  Other things have been occupying my time lately, so only a few stitches here and there.  Here is how she looked after I put her down last night:

Ella progress 5

Ella progress 6

I couldn’t resist starting a little bit of that sweet frog.  I will save him and his crown for last 😉

I also started a new project.  A Chandelier SAL from AAN.  I’m not sure about the metallic threads.  I have chosen a suggested fabric, 16ct Aida Winter Solstice from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie, but the threads are not showing up very well.  So, when I get back to it, I will finish the whitish stitching and then decide how I want to add the metallic threads.  There will be lots of jewels, too!  So excited for the end of this one.  I LOVE chandeliers.  I have a whole board devoted to them on my Pinterest – Ginny Schleich if you want to check it out.  So here is my start on this one:

Chandelier start

And lastly, I am getting ready for a new Stitch A Long to start on Monday!  It is Passione Ricamo’s Mystery SAL 5. It seems like I have been ready and waiting for months!

Ready for SAL Moon sweet Moon

My fabric is on the scrolls, marked and ready to go!  It is a beautiful hand dyed that Johanna from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics made for me.  It is gray with hints of purple.  I think it will be perfect for Moon, Sweet Moon.  From the sneak peeks from Dawn, the model stitcher, It is going to be a Fairy and a crescent moon.  If you want to do this SAL, you have until April 29 to purchase the SAL.  You can find it by clicking on the link above or here.

So, that is what I have been up to among many other things.  I’d love to hear about what you are working on.  For now, Keep on Stitching and Enjoy Every Stitch 🙂
