A Couple of Older Cross Stitch Projects and A New Start

Hello Blogging friends! When I finished stitching the Winter Snowfall project in February, I pulled out an older WIP.

Gossamer Princess start

I don’t remember when I started this project. It has to be 5-8 years ago. The pattern is Gossamer Princess Storykeep from Heaven and Earth Designs. This was a project I started for my husband. He mentions it every now and then, reminding me that I haven’t finished it, LOL So I thought I would pull it out and work on it. This is as far as I had gotten on it before having to put it in time out again.

Gossamer Princess

This one is being stitched on 25ct Lugana in White over 1. I had made a mistake and found out how much of a pain it is to rip out on Lugana over 1. Ugh It is also hard to see the holes, so back into her bag and away she went. I hope to get it finished someday, but that time is not now. So I pulled out another WIP.

Moon Sweet Moon

This is what the finished piece will look like. This design, by Passione Ricamo, was a Mystery Stitch-A-Long back in 2017. I think a couple of sections had come out when someone stole her design from her computer. She then halted the SAL and released the entire design to each person that had paid for it. Before sending out the PDF’s, she watermarked each person’s copy with their name and address. This is how it looked when I started the SAL.

Moon Sweet Moon start

And here is how she looked when I picked her up in early March.

Moon Sweet Moon Progress

I didn’t get to stitch much on her this time, but this is where I left off on her.

This is a beautiful piece and I am hoping to finish her this year. I am stitching her on 16ct Aida, a one of a kind piece dyed for me by Fantasy Dyed Fabrics, specifically for this project. It looks all gray in the photo, but there are hints of purple throughout. So the reason I put her away is because I just had to make a new start. Mirabilia comes out with a new design every month on the 15th. On February 15, Blossom was released and as soon as I saw her, I fell in love. She represents Spring, new beginnings and hope. With all that I was going through in the last few months, she was so appropriate and I knew I had to have her. Here is the quote about her;

To blossom is to burst forth with beauty and energy. It is a flurry of new life and electric beginnings. It is also a small flower that appears in the spring. This design is inspired by the hope and joy blossoms bring.

Nora Corbett
Blossom by Mirabilia

As soon as I saw her, I went through my stash to find the perfect fabric. It was a little difficult, but I found 2 that I thought might work. A friend ordered her for me and when she informed me that she was on the way, I pulled all of the threads and did a floss toss.

floss toss for Blossom

The fabric I chose is 16ct Aida Busy Izzy from Fabrics By Stephanie.

All set to go. And she arrived and I was so excited to start her!

Blossom start

I haven’t made much progress on her, with 2 knitting projects going. Hopefully the next time I post about her I will have more progress.

So that is what I have been cross stitching on. What are you up to today?

Stitching Is Keeping Me Sane

Hi!  I am still here, and stitching, packing, getting over a stomach virus and still cleaning out the basement.   Hubby and I just about have the basement cleaned out in preparation for the waterproofing.  Just a few pieces of smaller furniture left to bring up and the 3 bigger pieces that we won’t be able to bring up. Our garage is filled from floor to ceiling with lots of bins and boxes.  A few weeks ago we had new gutters installed and for some reason we are now getting water in the basement when it rains.  Ugh!  We have never had water, just a damp carpet on one side of the basement.  So one night, while hubby and I were both sick with a stomach bug, he had to go out at 10:30 at night to buy a shop vac.  We were up until 1 am vacuuming up water.  And we have bought a dehumidifier to help dry everything up.  I will be so happy when this is all done with.  And then we get to figure out if everything gets to go back into the  basement.  I’m almost  to the point that it can stay an unfinished basement.  We’ll see how long it will be until it is all back to normal.

Through it all, my stitching has been there to lift my spirits and take me away.  So what have I been stitching on?

I finished the peacock on the 2019 Mystery Sampler from Linen and Threads.

peacock sampler 2

I stitched the peacock in DMC 3810 on 16ct Aida Graceful Gray from Wichelt.  I also finished the borders using Gloriana Silk Rain Forest.  I love the colors in that thread!

peacock-sampler-1.jpg

I ran out of thread for the bottom middle block, but I have some on order and fingers crossed it will match what I have done.  And I finished the March block in no time.

Peacock sampler 3

I am hoping I can complete this sampler with just the DMC 310. But if it turns out that I need to add more color, I can pull colors from the Rain Forest thread.  I like the March block and wonder if all the blocks will be similar.  So for now it is tucked away until the April section comes out.  I have decided to work on some of my WIP’s and pulled this one out:

PR 20th anniversary SAL update1

I love this piece and would love to get it finished.  I completed the second block from the left and am working on the 3rd block.  This is Passione Ricamo‘s 20th anniversary piece.  I am stitching it on 16ct Aida Nantucket Sky from Fabrics by Stephanie.

PR 20th anniversary SAL update2

I will stitch on this one until I finish the block I am working on and then pull another WIP out.  I am hoping to finish a couple of projects this year.

This weekend I picked this up from the cross stitch store, all framed up by Way Cool Mats:  Treasures of The Deep, by Shannon Christine Designs.

Treasures of the Deep framed

I thought I captured a good image of this one, but I didn’t.  It really has a lot of beads.  So much so, that in some angles it looks really gaudy, like in the top of the photo.  And then from a different angle, it looks like the bottom of the image.  Sometimes the mermaids get drowned out by all of the beads.  I didn’t think there could ever be too many beads on a project, but this one I think may just have too many.  I do love all the little mermaids though.

March 1 was my 7 year Blogaversary!  I can’t believe I have been posting on this little ole blog for 7 years now!  And I still love it.  I just need to make the time to post more often. I will try this year 😉

So that is all I have for now.  I do have a few knitting projects and crochet projects going on, too.  I will post about them next time.  So what are you stitching on today?

The Flu, a Finish and Some Stitching

Hello blogging friends!  I feel like I have been missing in action for months.  So grab your favorite beverage as this may be a long post 🙂  I am finally recovering from having the flu for the last 2 weeks.  The first week I didn’t do much except ache, sleep and fight a fever.  Ugh, I am so glad that is over.  Just before getting sick, I went to Joanns craft store and bought some crystals to finish my Chandelier piece.  I came home and laid them out and then went back again and picked up more to cover all the places I wanted a jewel to hang.  So last week I sat and sewed them all on.  Here is my finished piece.

chandelier-finished-with-crystals-1.jpg

I really like how it came out.  The crystals are sparkly, even though they don’t show much here.  And I am glad to have this finish off the scroll frame.   This was a AAN SAL stitched on 16ct Winter Solstice from Fabrics by Stephanie.   Here are a couple of more pictures.

I also finished the March Mermaid on the Treasures of the Deep SAL by Shannon Christine Designs.

Mermaid SAL march mermaid

This is a SAL put out by Fiberlicious and I am stitching it on 16ct Maldivian Dreams by Fiberlicious.  I also stitched a couple of more frames to be ready for the next few mermaids.  There will be 12 in all, each mermaid representing a birth month.  So sweet!

mermaid SAL Feb March mermaids

I also stitched on the 2nd block of the PR 20th anniversary piece and this is how far I am before putting it away.

20th anniversary block 2

20th anniversary progress

I have pulled out an old WIP to work on for now.  I call her the Pink Princess.

Pink Princess progress

I will be stitching her without the wings.  I started her March 2015.  I can’t believe it has been 3 years!  The fabric is amazing!  It is 16ct Tintagel from Fabrics by Stephanie.  I am LOVING all the pink in this one.  It’s going to be amazing!

And when I am not stitching, I am working on a new hobby; Diamond Painting!  My best stitchy friend sent me a custom made Diamond Painting for my Birthday.  It is actually a picture of a photograph I had taken a couple of years ago.  It was such a thoughtful gift and I am loving Diamond Painting.

Diamond Painting

I am about 1/2 finished placing all the little tiles down.  I find it quite addicting.  When I plan about a half hour to work on it, several hours can go by.  It is very peaceful and calming. If you don’t know what Diamond Painting is, it is kind of like cross stitching, but without a needle.  The canvas is a sticky pattern filled with little squares with symbols that correspond to a colored tile.  Much like a colored cross stitch pattern.  The tiles are picked up with a pen with wax in the bottom of it and the tiles are placed on the corresponding symbol.  I am loving it and already thinking about my next canvas 😉  I am not going to reveal the finished picture just yet.  Can you tell what it is?

Well, I think I have taken up enough of your time for now.  I am happy to be doing better and getting back to a normal routine.  What have you been crafting on lately?

Stitching and More Snow!

Hello friends!  Happy March!  I have no idea where February went, but I do hope that March slows down a bit.  And it is coming in like a Lion!  This is what it looks like out my window right now:

IMG_2596 (2)

Really?  After all of our snow had finally melted and we have had temperatures in the 50’s the last 3 days.  We are expecting 4-6 inches today.  It has been snowing steady for the last 4 hours and starting to pile up out there.  Good thing I have no plans to be out today or tomorrow.  Enough about the white stuff.  Let’s get to the stitchy stuff 🙂

First, I brought this adorable little pixie home from the framer a couple of weekends ago.

White Angel Trumpet framed

She is the White Trumpet Angel by Nora Corbett.  I stitched her on a one of a kind hand dyed fabric from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics in 16ct Aida.  If you haven’t checked out her fabrics, you should.  She usually posts new fabrics on her Etsy on Monday’s and you can purchase what she posts right away.  She has great customer service and super fast shipping.  She is so sweet!  I have yet to hang her in my craft room, (the framed piece, not Johanna, LOL)  but I will.  She will join the other 3 pixies I have hanging in there.

I have been stitching on the Passione Ricamo 20th Anniversary piece and finished the first block a few nights ago.  Sorry for the crooked picture.

PR 20th anniversary progress 1

This piece is going to be amazing when it is finished.  Here is a close up of the block I just finished:

first block on PR SAL

It was so much easier stitching this block than it was that Fairy to the right.  It probably took me about a week of evenings to stitch her.   I hope all of the blocks go as quick, then I can have this piece finished in a few months.  Wouldn’t that be awesome!

And I have a new start!  When you see what it is, you will know why I couldn’t resist…

Treasures of the Deep

A year of mermaids!!!  WOW!  As soon as this was released, my BSF (Best Stitchy Friend) sent the link over to me and I caved almost immediately.  She is such an enabler, LOL.  But I love her and she knows me so well.  So this is a year long SAL designed by Shannon Christine and put out by Fiberlicious.  I have received all of my supplies and started it the other night.  Here is my progress:

Start on Mermaid SAL

The mermaids are birthstone mermaids and the SAL starts with February.  Isn’t she just the sweetest little mermaid?  And boy is this piece full of bling!!  But my beads and crystals will have to wait until the very end.  I am stitching on 16ct Aida Maldivian Dream from Fiberlicious.  It is a beautiful hand painted fabric.   If you are interested in this SAL, you can order through Fiberlicious.

Well, that is what I have been up to.  What are you up to these days?  Do you have any new starts?   What WIP project are you trying to get finished?

A Little Fairy

Hello blogging friends!  It is mid February already and I feel like my ambition in January is stuck in January.  But I am making progress on things 🙂  First up, I have a little Fairy!

PR 20th anniversary progress

Boy did she drive me crazy!  Not sure if it was because the designer made the large fairy a lot smaller to fit into this space or what.  But the backstitching was so crazy, that I ended up doing it my own way.  Too many zig zags within a stitch or 2 that were just not possible on the Aida, so I did my own thing and I think it came out pretty good.  I am not that happy with her face.  Her green eyes are not that visible, but I will leave it for now.  I am just happy to have her finished.  Not sure if I will continue with this piece or put it away for now.  We’ll see how I feel tonight.  This is the 20th Anniversary SAL from Passione Ricamo that was put out in 2014.  Yeah, I slacked on this one, but I am hoping for a finish this year…maybe…Anyway, I am stitching her on 16ct Aida Nantucket Sky from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.

I also have a framed finish!  Yep, I picked up from the cross stitch store on Feb. 3.  I still don’t have a place to hang it, but it’s home and I love it!

Mystery Sampler finish

Sorry about the crooked photo.  I was trying not to get the glare from the window and maybe my head was tilted, too.   What a truly remarkable piece!  I loved every stitch of this one and am so proud of myself for keeping up with it and finishing it in the month of December when the last section was released.  I love my color choices and where I placed the colors.  I would not change a thing about my choices on this one.  So, for all the info on this one:  2017 Mystery Sampler from Linen and Threads.  Stitched on 16ct Aida Castleview from Silkweaver.  Threads are Sullivan’s variegated London Fog and DMC 3888.  I am hoping that my color choices for the 2018 Sampler make me as happy as this one.  I haven’t started it yet, as I am waiting on a bigger piece of fabric and some threads.  I will be sure to share once I get it started.  If you are interested in the 2017 or the 2018 Mystery Samplers, you can find the info about them on the Linen and Threads website.  They are both FREE patterns, so that is even more amazing!

When hubby took me Birthday shopping in January, one of the things he bought me was this:

IMG_2551 (2)

A cute Cowl pattern and a very soft, squishy skein of yarn. So I started it 🙂

IMG_2581 (2)

Oh my gosh!  Those colors are so gorgeous!!  Very nice pattern, too.  I do have to pay attention, at least until I get the hang of the pattern.  I am in love!  And I can’t wait to see more of the color variations.  The pattern is Aspen Cowl by Javori Designs.  The yarn is Ella Rae Seasons Yarn color #52.  One ball will make the cowl using drop and eyelet stitches.  the yarn is 76% acrylic, 14% Wool, 10% Nylon and has 219 yards.  The yarn almost looks like a crocheted chain.  Gives it that nice squishy texture. According to the pattern there are 280 rows and I have 32 completed rows.  Long way to go to a finish, but it is going to be gorgeous when finished.

It is another cold day outside today, but the last 2 days were warmer so our snow is melting.  I will leave you with a picture of a sparkly icicle with the sun shining through.  So pretty, but glad they are all melted now 🙂

Crazy Busy, But I’m Still Stitching

Wow!  I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post!  And where did June go?  I swear just the other day it was June 1 and now here we are in July!  Summer please slow down 🙂  So even though I have been going at full speed almost every day the last few weeks, I have managed to get my regular stitching in 🙂  So here is what I have been up to:

Moon Sweet Moon start

Here is where I am with Moon, Sweet Moon, Mystery SAL by Passione Ricamo.  I am stitching her on 16ct Aida OOAK from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics.  It is actually a gray color with hints of purple.  Bad photo, sorry.  It is really beautiful in person. Unfortunately, this is no longer a SAL.  Someone has passed the first few sections onto the internet, illegally, so Laura ended the SAL.  So sad for someone to do this.  She has released the full pattern to each person that signed up, with watermarked pattern in their name.  This is how it will look when finished:

18699799_1539128752777906_6659353882627873875_n

It is so beautiful and I am so sad to see it end as a SAL.  It is now available for purchase on Laura’s website if you are wanting to stitch this beauty.  You can find it here. I am waiting on threads for the moon, so I have put her aside and picked up this one:

Mystery Sampler April started

This is the Linen and Threads Mystery Sampler.  I can’t begin to tell you how I much I LOVE stitching on this piece.  I have just started stitching the April section, so I am a bit behind.  But it is such a relaxing stitch.  I am using Sullivan’s variegated thread London Fog and DMC 3888.  The fabric is 16ct Aida Castleview by Silkweaver.  I am hoping to get this caught up before getting back to something else or starting something else.  If you would like to stitch this piece, it is a FREE SAL put out by Linen and Threads and the January through July sections are on their website.  Here is another view:

Mystery Sampler April started 2

I have also been adding a row or two, now and then on my Temperature blanket.  I am somewhere at the beginning of April and here is how it is looking so far:

Temperature blanket progress

Temperature blanket progress 2

I’ve added another row of yellow and a row of light purple.  Hoping there will be more of these colors as I am really getting bored of the darker ones.  This is nice to work on when I have a few minutes here and there.  It is getting too big to carry around, so I will keep adding to it now and then and hope to also get caught up with it, too.

In my last post I told you briefly about a new stamp obsession of mine.  Here are some cards using products from Heartfelt Creations:

Here is a close-up of those beautiful 3-d flowers!

And this one is my favorite:

I am having such fun making 3-d flowers with glitter, and frosting and beaded centers.  I need to play more 🙂  I have also added these 3-d flowers to my scrapbook pages.  I will have to get photos of those for next time.  Right now it’s time to go play 🙂

A Framing, A Start, Ready for a Start and Progress!

Hello Bloggers!  I think it is finally Spring here.  In fact, this was happening outside my front door in my Rhododendron bush:

cardinal in her nest

This Mama was so busy making this nest.  It was wonderful watching her.  Then last week I noticed a broken egg on my porch.  So I frantically tried looking in the nest to see if there were any more eggs and yes, there were 3 more.

cardinal nest of eggs.jpg

I do hope that nothing gets to the other eggs and I can see little baby birds soon.  So exciting.

More excitement…look what made it home from the framers yesterday:

framed Journey Into The Deep 1

A Journey Into the Deep by Passione Ricamo.  She is soooo beautiful!  And so big!  And already hanging on the wall.  Right at the end of my hallway, so everytime I go upstairs, I can look at all her gorgeousness!  She was stitched on 28ct Lugana Pixie Dust from Silkweaver.  So happy to have this awesome mermaid finished and hanging up.  Here are a few more pictures of her:

journey into the deep 2

journey into the deep 3

I am making slow progress on Ella.  Other things have been occupying my time lately, so only a few stitches here and there.  Here is how she looked after I put her down last night:

Ella progress 5

Ella progress 6

I couldn’t resist starting a little bit of that sweet frog.  I will save him and his crown for last 😉

I also started a new project.  A Chandelier SAL from AAN.  I’m not sure about the metallic threads.  I have chosen a suggested fabric, 16ct Aida Winter Solstice from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie, but the threads are not showing up very well.  So, when I get back to it, I will finish the whitish stitching and then decide how I want to add the metallic threads.  There will be lots of jewels, too!  So excited for the end of this one.  I LOVE chandeliers.  I have a whole board devoted to them on my Pinterest – Ginny Schleich if you want to check it out.  So here is my start on this one:

Chandelier start

And lastly, I am getting ready for a new Stitch A Long to start on Monday!  It is Passione Ricamo’s Mystery SAL 5. It seems like I have been ready and waiting for months!

Ready for SAL Moon sweet Moon

My fabric is on the scrolls, marked and ready to go!  It is a beautiful hand dyed that Johanna from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics made for me.  It is gray with hints of purple.  I think it will be perfect for Moon, Sweet Moon.  From the sneak peeks from Dawn, the model stitcher, It is going to be a Fairy and a crescent moon.  If you want to do this SAL, you have until April 29 to purchase the SAL.  You can find it by clicking on the link above or here.

So, that is what I have been up to among many other things.  I’d love to hear about what you are working on.  For now, Keep on Stitching and Enjoy Every Stitch 🙂

Beading Has Begun

I have finally started beading mermaid!  This is just a tiny fraction of the amount of beads that will end up being on this piece.

beading-has-begun-on-mermaid

I had a heck of a time fitting that star treasure on her bikini top, in between all of those beads.  I should have added it first.  But I am not pulling all of those beads out, so it will just have to be a little crooked.  Here are some close-ups of the beading.

She is starting to look more sparkly 🙂

Since we woke up to more snow this morning and are expecting even more today, I have decided to stay in and bead on mermaid 🙂  Here are a few snow pictures of what we have outside 😛

Our neighbor and hubby “admiring their shoveling and plowing” 🙂  And my cute buddy, Thor watching them.

Thor sure loves to play in the snow.  As long as hubby keeps throwing it, Thor will keep trying to catch it.

So I am off to bead on mermaid on this cold, snowy Saturday.  What are your plans for today?

My Quilted Tree Skirt

Hi!  Wow, 2 posts in a week!  And me getting things done, too!  Amazing!  So, on Sunday I set out to cutting all the pieces for my tree skirt.  Then began sewing everything together.

sewing-my-tree-skirt

As you can see out my window, we received lots of the white stuff overnight and it was still snowing all day Sunday.  Perfect time to be inside sewing away.  Oh and we ended up with about 10″ of snow.  Yuk!  But I did get the quilt top all together.

tree-skirt-quilt-top

I just love how all the fabrics look together.  I was getting excited for the finished product.  I had worked on it all day and by the end of the day, I had all the quilt layers pinned together and ready for cutting and sewing.

tree-skirt-layers-pinned-together

I cut, sewed, poked my fingers a few times, turned it outside right, sewed the opening closed and tied off all of the squares.  And here is the finished product.  I am so happy with how it turned out.

And I am finally backstitching mermaid.  My least favorite part of cross stitching is the backstitching.  It is taking forever.  But she does have a beautiful face 🙂

What I am Stitching, Reading, and a Finish

So the days have been quite warm, with high humidity.  So staying in and getting things done is what I have been up to.  Over the weekend, I finished Mirabilia’s Aphrodite.

IMG_1788 (2)

Isn’t she a beauty!  I will say that I did not like the beading on this one.  I love to bead, but these beads were just too far apart and sometimes carrying my threads was not an option.  So finishing the end threads was a real pain, and the back of my work is a mess!  I just hope that I didn’t stretch some threads too far as to interfere with the framing.  I am so glad to have this one done.  I just love her hair!  So different than anything Nora has done before.  She is stitched on 16ct Aida Kaleidoscope from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.  I could not have chosen a more perfect fabric for her. Here are some more shots of her:

IMG_1792 (2)

IMG_1791 (2)

IMG_1790 (2)

Since my trip to Mary Maxim, I have been wanting to get some knitting done.  I did finish a project, but forgot to take a picture of it before I gifted it.  And remember this shawl I started sometime ago?

IMG_0561 (2)

Well, I had to rip it out and start over again, as I was doing the yoke with the larger needles and was supposed to be using a smaller needle.  I didn’t want to run out of yarn, so thought it best to start it over.  Here is where I left it last night:

IMG_1803 (2)

I have 310 stitches on there and every other row is a different pattern.  I did have an extra row in there, but realized I skipped a row, so had to knit back a row and that is where I stopped.  When I pick it back up, I will change to the larger needles and hope and pray every row, that I have the correct amount of stitches.  Fingers crossed for me 😉

And remember this shawl I started a while back also?

IMG_0756 (2)

Well, after trying to go on with it, I just wasn’t ending up with the pattern as I was supposed to at this same point.  I had started this shawl about 10 times.  So this time was the breaking point and I have since ripped it all out and ditched the pattern.  I did, however, find another pattern to use this yarn with and can’t wait to start that one after I finish the other shawl.  And the new pattern has beads!  I will be stringing them on before I knit and knitting them in as I go.  I have not done that in years!  Can’t wait!!

I am also trying to find time to keep reading this book that my hubby suggested for me:

IMG_1804 (2)

It is a huge book, with very small print.  It is actually 3 books in one.  Not my normal style of reading, but since hubby suggested it, I thought I would give it a try.  I think I have been reading it since February!  I only read if I take time for lunch and then I only get a couple of pages in since the print is so small.  This is where I am in the book:

IMG_1805 (2)

I am more than half way through, so it should be downhill from here, right?  It is not the greatest book I have read, but I am anxious to find out what happens to Paksenarrion, the main character.  She is a soldier and has fought in many battles.  She has left the military, and is on the road to becoming a paladin. So I am very curious to find out how it ends.  I can’t wait to be done with it, as I have the first of a Mermaid series arriving in my mailbox today, and I am quite excited to start it.

And, I promised an update on my last few fabrics I have received from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics:

IMG_1802 (2)

Such beauties!!!  I just can’t help myself.  I have been trying to cut myself off, but I am totally addicted!  I just love all of her fabrics and have a pixie planned for everyone of these.  Since finishing Aphrodite, I have pulled the Passione Ricamo SAL #2 out and have put a few stitches in, but I think this weekend I just may start Iris Pixie on the fabric on the far right.  The fabric is so perfect for her, it is amazing!

So what new project have you  started or what new products have you added to your stash?
