A Finish, A Start and some this and that

I finished Lavender Fairy on Karen’s RR last night and I think she turned out very pretty.

Lavender on Karens RRKarens full RRKaren’s RR is going to be so gorgeous when it gets finished.  She did an awesome job on her layout.  And just look at the sparkles in that fabric!  I still have to add my name, and then she will be ready to mail on in July.  I’m not sure I like Joan Elliott patterns.  Lots of fractionals.  But hubby does like this fairy and he did buy me a special purple hand dyed fabric to stitch her on.  So I suppose I will have to stitch her in full some day.

I also put my Passione Ricamo Mystery SAL on the LARGE scroll frame.  The masking tape hubby bought was really tacky and messy leaving a residue all over the roll when I pulled tape up and on my hands.  So I didn’t really want to put that on my fabric.  So I ended up hand basting it to the piece of fabric on the rods.  It was a chore, but I’m glad it’s done.

SAL on the scroll frameMy fabric didn’t seem to get tight, so I added the rubber bands and binder clips.  Do you see that tiny little spot where the yellow is on the left?  That is my start on this SAL. I hope to add some more this weekend.  I’ve already had a sneak peek at block #2 to be released on July 1, so I want to make sure I get block 1 done and keep up.  For those that were asking about the scroll frame,  it’s a K’s Creations.  You can click on the link to find out more.  Like I said in my last post, I haven’t used this frame in a really long time and not sure I will like it but I am going to give it another try.

Over the weekend, hubby was near a yarn shop and he stopped in.  This is what he picked up for me:

New knitting stuffA cute little case for my circular needles and some fun festy yarn.  There is enough to make 2 scarves.  The shop was out of the pattern, so I called to see how to use this yarn.  Cast on however many sts I want on to size 15 needles and knit in garter stitch for however long I want.  It’s double stranded and it will be interesting to see how this yarn knits up.  It’s called Fantasty Fest by The Sassy Skein and the color is Lobster.  The shop owner told me the yarn strands were put together by kids that were no longer in the Foster Care system.  I thought that was neat. So thank you Skeins On Main for helping hubby pick out some really nice things for me since I couldn’t be there.  I hope to get a scarf knitted up before fall rolls around.  And when I get to organizing my circular needles, I will post a pic of the inside of that cute little case.  That’s it for today.  Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been up to.

      1. I can’t believe your RR was a couple stithes a couple days ago & done, now! It is beautiful. Also love the Sassy Lobster yarn-hah!! I can cast on & garter stitch-well, it would come back to me.

  1. Ginny,
    I love love love it!!
I’m so glad the purple came in at the bottom. The earlier picture didn’t have any. I was afraid the sections would be too small for some of the fairies, etc. to show the purples.

    She’s perfect. Thank you!

What a sweet hubby you have! Mine would never think to go to a craft or stitchy store to just pick something he thinks I would like.

    Hugs!

    1. So glad you like it, Karen. Your piece is perfect and will look awesome when it is finished.
Yeah, I think I will keep my hubby after all, hehe. He is always thinking of me and will stop anywhere that he thinks may have something I like. Even if it is to check it out and let me know what’s inside. He did call me from the yarn shop and I asked him to look for a case for my circular needles. And he picked pink, my favorite color and the yarn he picked will go with my winter coat. Yep, he’s a keeper 🙂

    1. Thank you, Christine. When I saw that idea on fb, I knew I had to try it. It works pretty good, too. I like to have my fabric really tight when I stitch and this rig up really works.

  2. I noticed that your K’s frame the round spacer in the middle is in the wrong place. It needs to be between the stand and then the frame so that you can flip it to work on the back . I know because I did the same thing and now I love it . If I made myself unclear have a look at their websitehttp://www.kscreations.com/use.htm to see what I mean.

    1. Thanks for the info, Christina. I wonder if I put it on the inside because it is the largest scroll frame for the stand and they wouldn’t fit? I will definitely have to re-visit this the next time I pull it out. I appreciate you taking the time to visit my blog and for catching my mistake. I went to the website and didn’t know that I could collapse the whole thing either! Wow! You rock! I learned something new today 🙂

      1. Ginny , you are welcome. I didn’t want to point our a mistake. I used it frustratingly wrong since 1990. I only just realized it when I visited their site for new info. I do love your blog. I was blown away by your lace lady from Just Cross Stitch. I have still been thinking about it. I have a Christmas Stocking of Santa’s workshop that I won’t allow myself to start anything else till it;’s finished. You must be very fast. Me, it’s stitch , stitch, stitch and frog, frog, frog, Just got some Mag Eyes so I hope to improve the odds.

  3. Christina, I welcome the info. I always wondered why it wouldn’t turn so I could get to the back. The Queen Anne’s Lace is a small pixie, so it was a pretty quick stitch. Took me about a month. And I do know about frog, frog, frog, LOL You are very dedicated. I used to be a one project at a time kind of gal until I found facebook groups. Yep, they are such enablers! Ha! Some day I would like to get all my WIP’s finished and get back to doing one project at a time. But the designers keep coming out with beautiful projects! Mirabilia just came out with a new mermaid yesterday and, well, since mermaids are my favorite, I can see a new start in my very near future 😉 I do hope the Mag Eyes help and you will be stitching without the frogs 🙂
