Snow Love, So Sweet!

First finished ornament

If you read my post yesterday, you saw that I was working on creating my first ornament (other than a pillow ornament).  Well this is the finished product.  I am very pleased with how it turned out and after all the stressing I did about cutting up the stitched piece, it wasn’t so bad after all.  The pattern is “Snow Love” by Country Cottage Needleworks.  I stitched it on 16ct Dirty Aida and hand painted the snow with acrylic paint.  I used The Twisted Stitcher tutorial for making a flat ornament and the instructions were quite easy to follow.  I did have a bit of a problem creating the hanger as the cord I purchased was a little too thick to tie into a knot.  That is the reason for my ribbon bow on the top of the hanger. So next time I will try to create a cord from DMC floss.  Have never done that before.  But I am very happy with my first ornament and  I can definitely see me making more in the future.  And this ornament can hang out all winter and into Valentine’s Day 🙂  It’s such a sweet pattern.

I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!  Enjoy the day with your family and friends as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.  Love and hugs to all!

Stitchy Progress, Ornament Attempt And A Real Finish!

Whew!  Lots of stitching going on!  First, my attempt at an ornament.  I stitched Country Cottage Needleworks “Snow Love” about a month ago, but have been putting off turning it into an ornament.  I was so afraid I was totally going to ruin it.  And while it is not done yet, it is going ok so far.  Here are some photos:

Snow LoveSo here is the finished stitching.  And today I began the process of turning it into an ornament.  If all goes as planned, I will make more for next year.

Snow love ornamentI think it is turning out pretty well!  Right now the front is being glued to the back and is sitting under a stack of encyclopedia’s.  The pattern called for 32ct Petit Point Linen in Raw/white.  That fabric already has the snow dots on it.  But since I am not a fan of 32ct, I stitched mine on 16ct Dirty Aida and then painted with snow with acrylic paint.  Turned out pretty sweet if I must say so myself 😉  Once the pieces are dry, I will add some cording to finish it off.  I will post another photo of the finished product when it is completely done, hopefully later today or tomorrow.

Now onto my stitchy progress on Siren and the Shipwreck:

Siren progressThis mermaid has been a joy to stitch.  I love the colors and I am hoping for a finish this year???  Probably a lot of wishful thinking, but it’s a goal.

And lastly, my final finish on Angel of Grace:

Angel of Grace finished

I finished stitching this back in January, and didn’t get it fully finished to give to my Mother for her birthday this summer.  So I finished it this week, sewing the rod pocket, finishing the bottom into a point and adding the tassel.  I think my Mom is going to love it as she loves Angels.

So that’s it for me today.  Do you have a finish or are close to a finish for this year?
