First Finishes of the Month

My Time Stitching

Hello blogging friends!  We are a few weeks into January and already I have a few finishes.  Earlier in the month I finished the 1 ball cowl I had started over the summer and I just love how it turned out.

One ball shawl

The yarn is “Shawl in a Ball” from Lion Brand.  The color is Community Coral. It was pretty mindless knitting in stockinette stitch and so it became my take along project for knitting on car rides that were 1/2 an hour or more.  After the new year, I decided to bite the bullet and knit on it until I finished the skein.  I have already worn it once and it is nice and warm.

Next up I have my first 2 scrapbook pages for the year.  They were part of a kit from my Local Scrapbook store.  January pages of the Calendar Club.

I have done the calendar club at this shop for the past 4 or 5 years, but this year is going to be my favorite as she will be using products from Blue Fern.  I Love their products and I enjoyed creating these pages.  Hopefully I can get more pictures on them and keep up with it all year.  Photos will hide those finger prints on the 2nd page from me putting lotion on my hands.  Ugh.

Next up is my first book finish.

I finished this book on Wednesday.  It is the 2nd in The Guardian Trilogy from Nora Roberts.  With all of my hobbies, reading takes a back seat, reading usually only at lunch time or when I am at a hair appointment or take my car in for an oil change.  One of my goals this year is to read more.  I am happy to have my first book finished in January.  This series is pretty good.  I am anxious to start the 3rd book and see how it finishes up.

I finished this sweet little thing last night:

White Angel Trumpet finish

She was a pretty quick stitch.  Binge watching the old X-Files has certainly helped me move right along with her.  She is White Angel Trumpet, a Poison Pixie from Nora Corbet.  I stitched her on a OOAK 16ct Aida from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics.  The fabric looks like it has poisonous gasses in greens and grays.  I think it is perfect for her.

So I dug this WIP out to work on for now.

PR 20th anniversary SAL

This one is Passione Ricamo’s 20th Anniversary SAL.  It is quite a large piece and I would love to finish this one this year.  There are many blocks on this one each containing a portion of different PR  patterns from over the years.  I am stitching on 16ct Aida Nantucket Sky from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.  It is truly going to be an amazing piece.  Not sure how long I will stitch on it, but every stitch will put me closer to a finish, right?

So that is it for my finishes so far this month.  I have a long list of goals for 2018 and I am still trying to put them into a “18 in 2018” order.  I hope to have that list nailed down for my next post.  So what are your goals for 2018?  What are you currently working on?   2. The Cowl turned out so pretty, love the color.
    White Angel Trumpet looks great, and the fabric is perfect for it.
    The PR piece will be a masterpiece, I’ve never seen this one.
    My goals are to finish a couple of larger WIPS, and right now I finished a LK, called, LOVE, a Flip-It.
    I found a pretty red frame to put it in, so cute.

    1. Thank you, Marilyn ❤ I am happy the cowl is finished and I am really thrilled with White Angel Trumpet. I can't wait to get her framed and hanging in my craft room. But that will have to wait a while, as I have taken the Mystery Sampler in for framing and waiting on that one to come back. You can see a finished picture on Passione Ricamo's website of the Mystery SAL. It is so gorgeous and I would love to get this one finished this year. So far I am still stitching on it 😉 I saw your LK finished piece. It is so pretty. Can't wait to see it all framed up in red. That will be stunning. Good luck with your goals this year. I am with you in wanting to get a few large WIP's finished this year. We can cheer each other on 🙂

  3. Your one ball cowel is beautiful. It’ll be nice and warm for these cold winters day.
    Great scrapbook pages. The colors and design are pretty.
    And you even read a book. You’ve been busy this year.
    Your ‘White Angel Trumpet’ is gorgeous. She looks like a Pretty Pixie blessing nature with her prayers.
    Your WIP is going to be charming when you finish it. I look forward to your updates.
    I think you’ve had a successful start to 2018. Looks like it’s going to be a creative year for you. Keep up the great work.

    1. Thank you, E.C. ❤ Today it will be 45 degrees, so I won't be needing the cowl. But when the weather turns cold again, it will be perfect. The White Angel Trumpet pixie does indeed look like she is praying over nature. She is so sweet. It is hard to think of her as a poison pixie. I am still stitching on the WIP and am hoping that I can get it done this year. It will be a magnificent piece. I feel like I have accomplished quite a bit this month already. Thank you for cheering me on 🙂

  4. The cowl is beautiful, Ginny, and I just love the gorgeous colors!
    White Angel Trumpet has turned out brilliant – the fabric does suit her very well.
    I loved the scrapbook page. (I like looking at them but for the life of me, can’t make one, lol…) I’m sure you’ll find photographs to add to the page and make it a place full of memories.
    The SAL looks like it’s going to turn out amazing! Can’t wait to see your progress on it.

    1. Thank you, Anita ❤ I just hope I can keep up this momentum. The cowl is so warm and the colors are really pretty. I am so happy to get the White Angel Trumpet done. She is so sweet. Scrapbooking is my other passion, next to cross stitch. I just don't take enough time to do it, but hope to change that this year. As well as more reading 😉 I wish you a successful 2018 also.

  6. You have been busy!!! The cowl is great! Bet you get a lot of use out of it. 😉 the scrapbooking is pretty, including fingerprints, lol! And as always, your stitching is amazing!

  7. Beautiful colour choice on the cowl and well done on another cross stitch finish. I’m always amazed at how many gorgeous finishes you keep churning out. i don’t have any goals except to finish my purple knitted aran blanket this year. In fact, I was so enthusiastic the other night, that I managed to pull the end off my circular needle. It had to happen on the most tricky of all the pattern lines and about 20 stitches pinged of in all sorts of directions. Thankfully, there was an extra pair of hands here to save the stitches from running any further! Then I spent a couple of hours undoing and redoing to get back to where I started. All’s well that ends well.

    1. Oh no! So glad you were able to get all those stitches back on the needles. I wish you much success in finishing it this year, and with no more mishaps. I am pretty pleased with my progress so far this year 🙂 Hopefully I can continue. My goal list is quite lengthy for this year, so I will be busy.

  8. Hello, what a great way to start the year. Your cowl looks gorgeous, and I love the colours in the yarn you used.
    I have not set goals for 2018, 🙂 I suspect I may have more than 18. I am busy with the planning of a bigger cross stitch project (thanks to you and all your good and positive influences) and my daughter gifting me a rather large wooden hoop that I want to keep the piece in and hang it up. Not something to complicated though, just a very plain design in one colour. I need to go shopping for embroidery cottons next. 🙂

  9. Oh wow, what beautiful finishes you have. You have really kicked off the new year with finishing and stitch and knitting. My reading takes a back seat too. I have read anything in a long time unless you count reading others blogs. I’m hoping this year to do a lot of stitching and really get a lot of finishes, or at least a lot for me. One of my other goals is to really get back into my blog and writing on it more and also reading a lot of other blogs that I follow, as I am very behind in all of them.
