The Castle

My second piece I stitched back in 1988  is another one that I did for Hubby.  He loves dragons, fairies and wizards.  The whole fantasy world.  Since I had an easy stitch with the California Raisins, I wanted a challenge.  So I went totally hardcore with Teresa Wentzler’s Castle.  Here is the finished piece:

I fell in love with how she uses 2 different colored threads to create the shading.  This piece was so fun to do.  I don’t remember how long it took me to stitch.  It is stitched on 14 count Aida in Ivory.  The only thing wrong with this piece is that it is framed on sticky board.  EEEEKKK!  I know, I know.  But I am sure that was what was available at the time.  I can see bumps on my stitching and it looks horrible.  So no close up of this one.  Some day I will get it re-framed.  This piece used to hang in hubbys office at work.  When he switched jobs a few years ago, his space was. much smaller, so he had to pick one piece to hang at work.  Some day I will go and take a picture to share with you what piece he chose.  I believe that this chart is no longer available to buy in stores, but you can purchase a  download here.
