Switching Stitches

Since finishing August Fairy I have been undecided as to what cross stitch project  to start next.  I have several ideas in my head, just haven’t landed on any particular one yet.  So, I am switching over to  a knitting project.  Yep, Started a scarf for a Christmas gift the other night.  I am using one of those fun, scarf yarns.

scarf yarnI picked this up at Joanne’s the other night as it will go perfectly with the recipient’s coat. Here is the start:

Red Starbella Scarf in progressDon’t you just love all the bouncy, flowy, lacey,  layers?  It looks heavenly.  It is a bit of a pain to have to stop and pull apart the yarn in order to knit in the loops, but it goes pretty quickly.  here is the finished scarf:

I love how it turned out.  It will match my coat perfectly too, hmmmm….No, it is a gift.  Here is the one I am making for myself now:

This one uses a yarn I picked up at a yarn shop last year, called Marina by Rozzetti.  Same concept as the Red yarn above, just a little different feel.  This will look stunning with my red coat.  Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been up to.  What are you up to?

I went and had my nails done yesterday.  I finally found one of the German polishes that I had been wanting so that is what I had put on my nails.

Every month is Oktoberfest nails snowflake on nailEvery Month is Oktoberfest is the name of the polish.  And Nickie added a little snowflake art to both of my ring fingers and topped them off with a little Creative Nail Disco Ball. Thanks Nickie.   Love it!  Come back later for a stiching share.

I put my August Fairy in for framing on Monday.  Last night when I returned home from shopping, I had a message on my machine that my framing was ready!  Wow!  1 day; Amazing!  So today I went and picked her up.  Here she is:

August Fairy FramedOh my gosh, she looks amazing.  And the frame that I picked is perfect for her.  The Rocking Horse did an amazing job and so fast that my head is spinning.  Now I just have to find a box to put it in for my Mom for Christmas.  She is going to be so surprised.  Now to figure out what my next project will be…..

August Fairy is finished and off to the Framer!

Hello.  I finally finished August Fairy this morning.  Early this morning.  I put the last bead on at 1:15 am, this morning.  This, after stitching for about 15 hours on Sunday.  Here she is:

She is stitched on 16 ct Aida, Milk Chocolate.  I think she turned out beautiful and I hope that my Mom likes her.  I called the Rocking Horse on Sat. and they said that if I brought my piece in on Monday, they could frame it in time for Christmas.  So that is why I stitched until my eyes crossed all day on Sunday.  Here is a close up of her sweet face:

She is a beauty.  Thank you Nora Corbett for such a beautiful design.  So off to the Rocking Horse I went to put her in for framing.  Here is the frame I chose for her:

Frame I chose for August FairyI liked the swirly pattern that matches her beaded wisps.  And there is a hint of red here and there that really brings out the beads on and around her head.  I can’t wait to get her back later this week.  Here is another look at the gorgeous frame:

Hi.  I have been a bit out of the blogging world.  Hubby has been in the hospital for a week.  He ended up having his gallbladder removed and I brought him home from the hospital today.  So not much stitching for me this week.  But I did receive my Round Robin back last weekend and want to share it with you.

It is so beautiful and sparkly.  All of the gals did such a beautiful job on their blocks.  Not sure when I will be able to get this framed.  I’d love to do it now, but I’m afraid I may have to wait until after the holidays. It’s so beautiful that it needs to be hanging on a wall where I can admire it everyday.  This was my first RR and I met some wonderful stitching friends and had a great time.  Can’t wait until the next one.

Fairy Progress and New Nails

Not much in the way of stitching, but I thought I would share my progress on August Fairy:

She has an upper body and some arms now.  I’m working on the upper wings and pretty soon she will have a face.  I am getting excited to get this finished and start the beading.  My goal is to get her done in 10 days so that I can get her to the framer.  I am hoping to meet that goal.

This morning I went to LaBella Salon  and had a quick polish change.  I think I have found my new favorite polish combination.  Here is what it looks like:

It’s OPI Black Onyx with a silver glitter called Disco Ball by Creative Nails (I think).  This will be great for all of the upcoming holidays.  LOVE IT! Thanks to Nikie and to the gal ahead of me who was flashing the same colors.

My Progress on August Fairy

It’s been about a month since I last posted about August Fairy.  I’ve worked on her quite a bit and I am happy she is coming along.  I have a few other projects that I am dying to start, but I want to keep plugging away on this one.  My hope is to get her finished and framed in time to give to my Mom for Christmas.  Her birthday is in August and I think she will love this one.  So here she is so far:

I am finally getting to some other colors besides black.  She sure has a lot of black in her dress, but it is striking and love it.  It doesn’t really look like much on the computer screen, but I think I have stitched quite a bit.  I have been wandering over to a mirabilia site on Facebook and can those gals and guys stitch fast!  I wish I could have more time to stitch or stitch faster, but I am enjoying the stitching.  I just have so many projects whirling around in my head and a couple all ready to start.  But I am getting closer to that finishing point.  I like to stitch my ladies and fairies from the middle down and then the middle up.  That way when I get to the top, I can see my beautiful lady pretty much finished except for the beading.  I always do my beading last.  So, soon my lady will have a head and she will really come to life.  How do you like to stitch your ladies, or people in general? Today I will share the only other afghan in my possession.  I stitched this one up quite some time ago also.

This one was also stitched from a series of magazine patterns, but I’m sorry to say that I can’t remember which magazine.  I’m afraid I don’t know the name of the afghan fabric either, but I can tell you that it was stitched entirely with DMC Flower Threads.  I’m not sure why those threads were discontinued as I enjoyed working with them.  I still have a bunch, if not all of the colors left over.  Here is a close up of the cross stitch shop:

Of course I would love to eat at this shop, but I love the colors; Pink and blue.  Again, this was one of those afghans that had a different shop each month and I think I really enjoy working on projects in this way.  I must take another look at the current Stoney Creek Christmas afghan that is running in their magazines right now…Thanks for stopping by.

Snowmen Afghan

I stitched up this afghan quite some time ago and finally took a photo so that I can share it with you.

It is Stoney Creek’s Snowmen of the month afghan.  When I stitched this ( and it took me a long time) it was offered in their magazine each month or every other month.  I can’t remember.  But I think that you can now  purchase a book of all of these adorable snowmen.  The afghan started out as a piece of sparkly fabric and I had to block off and stitch in the silver thread separating each block.  But it was well worth it as I love this afghan.  I don’t use it much.  It sits on the back of my rocking chair. Occasionally I will throw it over my lap if I get chilled.  What about you?  Have you stitched up any afghans and do you use them?  Here is my favorite block on this afghan:

I love the witchy snowman and that penguin disguised as a tiger is too stinking cute!  Here is the November block since it is reminding me that I need to get my leaves raked up. Hehe.

I think I like patterns that I get to keep adding to each month (or when I can).  Like on an afghan.  I have made quite a few afghans in my time, but this one and one other (I will share that one tomorrow) are the only 2 that I own now.  I hope to add more afghan’s in the future.  Thanks for stopping by and seeing what I have been up to.

I stitched my November Pillow over the weekend.  It turned out pretty cute and was a pretty quick  stitch.

I am so proud of myself for stitching this up before picking up August Fairy again.  If I can get the December pillow stitched before December, I will really be doing great.  I already have Jan., Feb., and March stitched.  I will show those each month when I pull them out.   Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been up to.
