First Finish for 2017

finished-j

I finished this sweet little fairy last night.  I just love how she turned out.  And she was a pretty quick stitch, too.  Taking me only 11 days to complete.  She is Nora Corbett’s Fairy letter J and I used the conversion from The Rocking Horse.  Stitched on 16ct Aida Sage from Hand Dyed Fabrics By Stephanie.

This morning, I found this on my porch.

I had posted on my facebook page earlier in the week that I wanted seashells instead of snowflakes.  And some sweet person actually brought me seashells and just made my day.  So thank you to the sweet fairy who left me seashells. I just love them ❤ My heart is so filled with joy from such kindness.

Progress on the “J”

progress-on-letter-j

Hello blogging friends.  Just a quick post to update my progress on the letter “J”.  I finished the cross stitching last night and have moved onto the back stitching.  As you can see, she fits perfectly in my 11 x 11 Qsnaps, so that gives you an idea of the size. And so far she has been a pretty quick stitch.  Warning:  There are lots of fractionals in the fairy.  I think her arms and legs are made up of entirely 1/4 and 3/4 stitches.  But even on aida, it wasn’t difficult.  Just a re-cap-She is one of Nora Corbett’s Fairy Letters and I am stitching her on 16ct Aida Sage from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.

Today is cleaning house day, so my break is done and I have to get back to it.  I hope that you are doing something fun, like stitching 🙂  What are you stitching on today?

My 2017 New Start

Happy New Year!  I hope your holidays were wonderful and that your New Year has started off with a bang!  I didn’t go out anywhere.  I stayed home and hung out with hubby and played Indoor Corn Hole!  Yep, got it for Christmas.  I just love that game.  Ever since playing it at the zoo two summers ago during Summer Zoomance.  It is quite expensive to get a nice set, so we haven’t bought one yet.  But hubby found an indoor one and bought it for me for Christmas.  For those of you who don’t know what corn hole is, it is basically like horse shoes, but you throw a beanbag into a slanted piece of wood with a hole in the middle.

img_3061-2

It’s pretty fun.  If you like horse shoes, you would like this.  So that is what we did New Year’s Eve, while waiting for the ball to drop.  At midnight, I kissed my hubby, toasted the new year and started a new cross stitch project.

This one is going to be Nora’s Fairy Alphabet – letter “J”.  I will also be doing “O” and “Y”.

joy-patterns

While these letters look pretty, I will be doing a conversion from a local cross stitch shop and it will look like this:

431741_10151235402108944_616954725_n

I fell in love with this piece a few years ago and purchased everything I needed to complete.  When I was going to start it a month or so ago, I realized the fabric was 28 ct and I really didn’t want to work on 28 ct so soon after mermaid 😉  So I looked everywhere for a green I wanted and settled on the 16ct Aida Simply Sage from Hand Dyed Farbics by Stephanie.  The color is actually a little brighter green than my photo.  I just couldn’t capture the true color.  If you are interested in the conversion of these letters, you can find it here.

That’s it for me.  It’s cold and I am going to go and stitch for a bit, under a warm blanket 🙂  I hope the new year is a wonderful one for all of us.  Did you start a new project to bring in the New Year?

My Final Finish For 2016

win_20161231_182159

She sure is a beauty!  And so many beads!!  I didn’t think I would ever get done the beading.  I am happy to finish her and before the new year.  In case you haven’t been following this one, it is called Journey Into the Deep, by Passione Ricamo.  I stitched her on 28ct Lugana Pixie Dust from Silkweaver.  If I were to do her again, ( I never will ) I would switch the size 8 clear beads to the same size seed beads as the white ones.  There was no way I could fit the number of beads called for in the pattern.  I have 2 packages of clear beads left and 1 package of white beads.  But I am pleased at how she turned out and so happy to have stuck with her to the finish.

I would love to look back and show you a slide show of my 2016 finishes, but sadly, I am not that good with the computer.  And since I am creating this post on my Surface, I really have no clue ;).

So as I look back on 2016, I am pretty happy with what I have accomplished.  I already have a list of things I want to accomplish this year.  Not only stitching and crafting, but other things in my life.  I have been trying to think of my word for 2017 (Thank you Fawn for the reminder) and the one word that keeps coming to mind is DECLUTTER.  There are still several rooms and the garage, and many nooks and crannies that I need to go through and get rid of things I no longer need or have a use for.  But also to use the things that I have, especially when it comes to my crafting. So that is my one big goal for 2017 as well as the usual lose weight, make good choices, be a better person… Time for me to get things ready for my next cross stitch project.  I am planning on starting it at midnight tonight.  I will share it with you soon.

So as we get close to the end of 2016, I want to wish all of you a wonderful, happy, healthy and productive 2017.

Beading Has Begun

I have finally started beading mermaid!  This is just a tiny fraction of the amount of beads that will end up being on this piece.

beading-has-begun-on-mermaid

I had a heck of a time fitting that star treasure on her bikini top, in between all of those beads.  I should have added it first.  But I am not pulling all of those beads out, so it will just have to be a little crooked.  Here are some close-ups of the beading.

She is starting to look more sparkly 🙂

Since we woke up to more snow this morning and are expecting even more today, I have decided to stay in and bead on mermaid 🙂  Here are a few snow pictures of what we have outside 😛

Our neighbor and hubby “admiring their shoveling and plowing” 🙂  And my cute buddy, Thor watching them.

Thor sure loves to play in the snow.  As long as hubby keeps throwing it, Thor will keep trying to catch it.

So I am off to bead on mermaid on this cold, snowy Saturday.  What are your plans for today?

My Quilted Tree Skirt

Hi!  Wow, 2 posts in a week!  And me getting things done, too!  Amazing!  So, on Sunday I set out to cutting all the pieces for my tree skirt.  Then began sewing everything together.

sewing-my-tree-skirt

As you can see out my window, we received lots of the white stuff overnight and it was still snowing all day Sunday.  Perfect time to be inside sewing away.  Oh and we ended up with about 10″ of snow.  Yuk!  But I did get the quilt top all together.

tree-skirt-quilt-top

I just love how all the fabrics look together.  I was getting excited for the finished product.  I had worked on it all day and by the end of the day, I had all the quilt layers pinned together and ready for cutting and sewing.

tree-skirt-layers-pinned-together

I cut, sewed, poked my fingers a few times, turned it outside right, sewed the opening closed and tied off all of the squares.  And here is the finished product.  I am so happy with how it turned out.

And I am finally backstitching mermaid.  My least favorite part of cross stitching is the backstitching.  It is taking forever.  But she does have a beautiful face 🙂

So now I have to get back to more decorating and getting my Christmas cards addressed!  What are you up to these busy December days?

Did I Stitch in November?

Wow, I barely remember November!  Where did it go so quickly?  Well, I do remember stitching some.  Still working on Mermaid and here she is after last night.

img_2813-2

I swear when I go to bed at night, her hair grows a few more strands! Just a tad bit more hair and I will be done the stitching.  Hopefully that will happen tonight and I can move onto the backstitching and beading. I am glad I have stuck with her so far to almost finishing. She is going to be so worth every stitch.   I already have my next project lined up. Just waiting on fabric. I will share it when I get a start on it.

So let me share what I have acquired lately.  First, some beauties from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics:

img_2807-2

I don’t have anything in mind for them, I just really liked them and had to add them to my stash.

Next, my newest bag set from Deanna’s Frame Covers and Storage.  I found this fabric while at Joann Fabrics and new it had to be a bag set.

img_2809-2

I love birds and pink so this fabric jumped right out at me. This set includes a bag for 11 x 11 Q-snap frame, a little zippered pouch, perfect for threads and things and a grime guard for my 11 x 11 Q-snap frame.  I will use this set with my next project.

And this beauty arrived in my mailbox the other day:

img_2808-2

It is Ceridwen, November Fabric of the Month from Hand Dyes Fabrics by Stephanie.  It is 16ct Aida and I LOVE the beautiful pinks and grays in this one.  Not sure what I will stitch on it, but it will be something special.

This year, hubby let me do a themed Christmas tree, not the hodge podge of ornaments we usually do.  I wanted pink, and while hubby really didn’t want pink, he was willing to drive me over an hour to Bronners Christmas store, but I declined.  I decided we would go shop together, locally.  I fell in love with the black, white, gold and silver gift wrapping and bows and boxes.  So while I was drooling over all that stuff, hubby disappeared only to return with the ornaments for our themed tree-Silver, gold, gray, dark gray and glitter!

img_2812-2

We found some additional ornaments, but couldn’t find a tree skirt we liked.  And the traditional red and green one we have is not going to work.  So, next stop, Joann fabrics where I found all of these sweet fabrics so I can make a new tree skirt:

img_2806-2

I think all of these fabrics will be beautiful together (minus the blue with snowflakes, LOL).  I am hoping to get a start on it this weekend.  I will be sure to post pictures.

So that is what I have been up to.  I still have decorating to finish.  Yesterday I made 50 Christmas cards, so I still have to sign and address those and get them in the mail.  I also have shopping to finish up and sewing to do.  Hopefully I will get it all done soon so I can relax and enjoy December while it is still here.  What are you up to these December days?

Show and Tell Time

Wow!  Where did October go?  I can’t believe it’s been a month since I last posted.  Time is flying!  So I have things to share.  First, hubby went to the framer over the weekend and picked up this:

img_2601-2

Mirabilia’s Raven Queen.  Isn’t she a beauty?  I had the frame picked out for months and it is even more perfect for her than I imagined!  I LOVE this piece immensely!  She is stitched on 16ct Aida Twixt N Tween from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie.

A closer picture of her and the awesome frame:

img_2603-2

And remember the piece I was stitching for a friend, so I couldn’t show it?  Well hubby also picked it up from the framer and here it is:

img_2588-2

Yeah, my friend is a Trekkie and I finally got this stitched up for her.  It is actually stitched on a blue 14ct opal fabric.  Here is a better picture of the fabric:

img_2589-2

My friend was actually at my house on Saturday for a card class when hubby came home with it, so I was able to give it to her right away.  She loves it and was planning on taking it to work today to show all of her Trekkie friends and then I am sure she will find the perfect place to hang it at her house.

I also finished this, but haven’t put it in for framing yet.

img_2552-2

Nora Corbett’s Iris Pixie on 16ct Aida OOAK from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics.  I just love her on this fabric!  So cool how it turned out.

img_2553-2

She is a cutie.  I can’t wait to get her framed.  So now I am working on the Passione Ricamo’s A Journey Into the Deep.  I would love to finish this one before starting a new Pixie.  Here is how I left the mermaid last night:

img_2600-2

I know you can’t tell from this picture, but this is a pretty big piece.  I am almost finished the tail, and then I have another fish to do to the right of the tail and another further up then I can move up to her sweet face and all that hair.  And she does have a million beads, too, so she will be nice and sparkly!  I am stitching her on 28ct Lugana Pixie Dust from Silkweaver.

I also did something new.  I knitted an infinity scarf on size 50 needles.  Size 50!!  Boy was that a little awkward.

img_2551-2

img_2599-2

The yarn is Red Heart Boutique Twilight in color Metallic.  It is soft and will be nice and warm on the very cold days that they are predicting we will have this winter.

I have also been making Christmas cards.  One for every day in October.  Here is today’s card:

img_2583-2

If you want to see the prior 23 cards, you can view them on my business facebook page at Ginny’s Place, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.  Leave a comment so I know you visited and let me know what you think of the cards.

Well, now I am all up to date with what has been happening with me the last month.  What have you been working on?

My September Happenings

Hello my Bloggy friends!  It is officially fall where I am and the leaves are starting to change and there was a nip in the air this morning. The sun is shining brightly today, so it is a happy day.  I have been stitching and stamping and scrapbooking and shopping 🙂  So let me begin with my Iris project:

img_2268-2

If this is your first time seeing her, she is Iris Pixie by Nora Corbett.  I am stitching her on a One of a Kind fabric from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics in 16ct Aida. Johanna creates the most beautiful, one of a kind fabrics!  The best way to purchase them is in her Etsy shop; Fantasy Dyed Fabrics Etsy  It is so quick and easy that way.  What you see is what you get and very quickly, too.   I am finished with the bottom of the dress, except for outling and beading which will come later.  I have started on the wing, and not sure I am liking the colors.  The picture shows them a little more purply, but mine appear to be more gray.  But the Kreinik thread (the three darker dashes in the wing) are a Pewter color, so maybe they are supposed to be that way.  I will continue as the chart says, when I pick her back up, and see if I like it more.  For now she has been put aside so that I can work on another project. I can’t show much, as it is a gift but I will give you a peek:

img_2265-2

I know, not much of a peek.  But did you notice that I am using Q-snaps on this project?  Wow!  I want to say that I am using them because they are awesome and great and all that, but in all actuality I am using them because 1.  all of my scroll frames are in use and 2.  The 14ct aida I am using is a stiff opal and I didn’t want to use a hoop.  And 3.  Almost all of the design fits in the square.   I have been using it for almost a week and while it is not the comfortable feel of my scroll frame, it’s not too bad.   I can’t rest it on my knee and stitch 2-handed like I am used to, so progress is slow.  But that’s ok.  It’s a nice change and I do plan on using this same Q-snap frame for a HAED design that have barely started a couple of years ago.  Someday 🙂

This week I received some very happy mail.

14390754_10210425140850175_6573785608804617940_n

Five new lovely bags and grime guards for my last 5 WIP’s.  I can’t say enough about these bags!  They are by Deanna and you can find her Facebook page at Deanna’s Frame Covers and Storage. She does such a wonderful job creating these bags and covers for all of us crazy stitchers with way too many projects on our hands!  Her attention to detail is phenomenal, matching each fabric with the perfect lining and zipper.  She also makes covers for Q-snaps (I have 2 sets on the way!) and grime guards for hoops also.  Go and check her page out.  She even has ready made sets available for purchase.  And let her know you heard about her here on my blog 🙂

This week I finished another scarf 🙂

img_2267-2

I am totally in LOVE with this scarf!  Do I say that about every scarf I make?  Probably.  But I really love this one.  These are usually not my colors, but I love the vintage, shabby chic look of it.  Now I want clothes to match it 😉  The browns, tans and creams and just a hint of pink here and there make it perfect for fall.  I’m not sure you can see in the photo, but there are sequins on the yarn that give it a little sparkle.  The yarn is Patons Pirouette and the color is called Sienna Sparkle.  So pretty.

Speaking of yarn, I went to Fiber Festival with a friend last weekend and found a sweet little yarn shop there.  They also raise Alpaca’s there and so I am assuming they dye and spin their own yarn to sell in the little shop there.   I couldn’t resist purchasing a couple of hanks of the softest yarn I could find in there.

img_2262-2

The sweet lady there was so nice to wind them into yarn cakes for me.  There is just something about a yarn cake that is so heavenly.  The yarn on the left is 100% Alpaca wool while the one on the right is 80% Alpaca and 20% Merino wool.  They are both so soft and I will have to find a scarf pattern for both.  I think the one on the right will be perfect for a infinity scarf.  I could have bought a lot more, but there is this huge stash of yarn at my house that has been growing that I really need to start using.  Someday, right?

I have also been scrapbooking and getting into the latest craze of Memory Planners.  I am totally sucked into Heidi Swapp’s world of Memory Planning.  I had purchased a planner kit many months ago and decided that it wasn’t big enough for me to add photos and journal like I want.  It was of a slimmer design.  So I decided to turn it into a little scrapbook for my husband who had to go out of town to visit his Father whose health was failing.  While he was gone, I created a little memory album of his trip with all of the pictures he texted me.  It was all finished for him the day he returned home and he was thrilled with it.

img_2263-2

Basically I took out the calendar pages and used some of the overlay pages and added stickers and papers and pocket pages.  I even learned how to use a new phone app called PicFrame that is great for making photo collages.  I was able to get all of the photos he texted me into the album and it is a nice keepsake of his trip to visit his family.

img_2264-2

So that is what I have been up to lately.  I also have some new cross stitch fabrics and patterns and threads that I have added to my stash, but they seem to be all over the place right now.  I even have some plans for some new projects!  Imagine that!  I am also getting the knitting bug now that the weather is starting to cool off. So come back and visit to see what I am up to next 😉  What kinds of projects do you have in the works or what fun new projects are you planning?

My Wednesday WIP Update

Happy Wednesday, my blogging friends!  Since I took some pictures and added them to facebook, I thought I would update my little ole blog while I am still on the computer.  So, here is my progress on Nora Corbett’s Iris:

img_2201-2

She is really starting to come to life and looking so amazing on that fabric.  It is a one of a kind from Fantasy Dyed Fabrics and is 16ct Aida.  Just loving her so far and amazingly not so tired of the gold yet 😉

Today I finished reading this:

img_2199-2

It took me a long time, but I must say it was a really good read.  It is actually 3 books in one and I don’t take a lot of time to read.  Mostly during my lunch hour when I can or when I am at the salon getting my hair done or waiting to get an oil change.  This is isn’t my usual type of read.  It was suggested by my husband who knew I would like it.  And once I could get past the boring battle stuff and the sometimes boring details from the author, it was a great read.  I really dragged out the last 30 pages or so as I really didn’t want it to end.  So if you like those books about knights, squires, paladins, elves, dwarfs and kingdoms and many battles, then  I do recommend this book.

So what are you up to this fine September day?
