Mermaid share

Hello my blogging friends.  My back has been giving me grief for the last 2 weeks so hubby suggested I take a break from stitching as I sit in a weird position.  So I haven’t stitched in a couple of days so I don’t have a WIP share.  I do however have another mermaid (they are my favorite, you know) to share that I did a few years back:

She is Mirabilia’s Shimmering Mermaid.  I stitched her up in 2005 on 16ct Aida.  I don’t know the color, sorry.  She was a fun stitch and I love all of the patterns on her body as wells as the purple ribbons.

My back is feeling a little better today, so hopefully I can get some stitching done on Sophia’s Reindeer RR this weekend.  Thank you for visiting.  Have a great weekend and may your stitching be “Frog Free”!

Mermaids

Galatea

Hello.  I’m obsessed with wanting hand dyed fabric right now.  I see other stitchers blog posts showing some beautiful hand dyes and I want some.  My local shops don’t have much to offer and maybe deep down I am really looking for some hand dyed Aida.  I have only stitched on hand dyed once and here is what I stitched:

She is Passione Ricamo’s Galatea mermaid.  I stitched this piece in 2009 on  28 ct Griffon from Sugar Maple fabrics.  I believe that Sugar Maple is no longer in business and I remember it taking about 3 1/2 months to get my fabric.  I recently told someone I thought it might be Silkweaver, but I just found my info on this piece and it was Sugar Maple fabrics that I had so much trouble with.  So I have been a little leery about ordering hand dyes ever since.  But I see so many beautiful fabrics on-line and I’m really itching to get some. I love the colors on this fabric and I am pleased with how Galatea turned out.

Last weekend when I visited my LNS, she recommended Picture this Plus as a good place to find some really nice hand dyes.   I checked them out and they do have some fabulous lovelies!  I’ll have to start making a list.  I did pick up a piece of hand dyed last weekend and Hubby was so sweet and purchased 2 pieces of hand dyed fabric a couple of weeks ago.  I will post them this weekend.

Mediterranean Mermaid is finished!

Hello.  I finished my Mediterranean Mermaid last night.

She is beautiful and sparkly!  I didn’t think I would ever get done beading her.  She is stitched on 16ct Aida Star Saphire.  I am not sure when I will get her framed, but when I do, I will post her again.  Here are a couple of close-up’s of her:

This mermaid was the first piece that I put into rotation January of last year.  After a couple of months of rotating out several projects, I decided I couldn’t have a bunch of un-finished projects.  So I have been stitching between this one and the Angel of Grace.  Now that mermaid is done,  the Angel is my next project.

Mermaids

Deepest Love

Hello. Today I have another Mermaid to share with you.

It is Deepest Love by Mirabilia.  I stitched this one up in 1999.  I wish I could tell you the color of the fabric, but I didn’t keep track.  I can tell you that it is 16 Aida.  Aida is my choice of fabric because I tend to stitch tight and Aida gives me the stability I need.  I had her framed in a simple white frame so as not to take away from her beauty.  She is a treasured piece and currently hangs on the wall between my kitchen and dining room.

Mermaids

Mediterranean Mermaid

Good morning.  I am so excited about starting this stitching blog.  Today I am going to share with you one of the many projects I am currently working on.  She is the Mediterranean Mermaid:

I started her sometime last year and picked her back up again yesterday.  I didn’t realize that I am almost done stitching her.  Yeah!!  When I finish the tail I will go back and add all of the outlining and beads.  She is a design form Mirabilia.  She is designed by my most favorite designer, Nora Corbett.  And mermaids are my favorite.  What I like about this design, is that she can be displayed vertically or horizontally.  I plan on displaying her horizontally. I will be so happy to add her to my collection.  Happy stitching.
