Wouldn’t you just love to sit around in a big fancy dress and cross stitch all day? That would be the life, huh? This is Mirabilia’s Spring Queen. She is stitched on 16 count white Aida. I stitched her up in 1998 and she hangs in my upstairs hallway. So lovely. Here is a close up of some of the beautiful beading.
Autumn Queen
It feels like a blustery fall day today, so I thought I would share my Autumn Queen with you.
She is a Mirabilia pattern and she is quite regal. I love the blues and the purples and the beading is in the perfect places. I love the snood her hair is in. I stitched her up in 2000 on 16 count White Aida. I am not a big fan of matts, but the Queens seem to need it as their dresses are cut across the bottom into a straight edge.
You can see all of Nora Corbett’s Mirabilia designs here. I see that yesterday, April 15, 2012, Wichelt released a new Mirabilia entitled “Santa”. I have never stitched a Santa. I think this one has just been added to my list of “have to stitch”. He is a jolly Santa. Go check it out by clicking on the Mirabilia link above. Let me know what you think about him.
Mermen, oooh la la!
Not only do I like mermaids, but I also like Mermen. I have only found 2 cross stitch patterns of mermen and have stitched them both.
First we have “The Heir”. He is quite gorgeous. All those muscles…Yeah, there are a lot of nice muscles. And just look at that cute little baby.
And here we have “Romance of the Sea”. He also has some great muscles. Both of these designs are by Terrence Nolan of Dimples Designs. Both are gorgeous and I stitched both of these in 1999. On both pieces I added gold charms of dolphins and sea horses. They both hang in my bathroom, side by side.
Dragon Seasons
Good morning friends. We had snow flurries here in Michigan yesterday. While the sun is out this morning, it is still cold. So I guess that Mother Nature has put a hold on Spring in Michigan. So since we don’t know what season we are in, I have decided to share Dragon Seasons with you.
This is a piece that I did for Hubby back in 2000. All 4 dragons were stitched on one piece of fabric. It looks like it is 28 count Ivory, but I cannot tell you the type of fabric. Sorry. I didn’t think to keep that kind of information back then. The framer from Way Cool Mats did an awesome job in framing it. I remember spending a lot of time picking out the perfect frame and mats. The Winter Dragon is my favorite. The coloring is beautiful and the snowflakes are sparkly. This design is from a pattern book from Cross My Heart, Inc. titled Dragon Faire.
Deepest Love
Hello. Today I have another Mermaid to share with you.
It is Deepest Love by Mirabilia. I stitched this one up in 1999. I wish I could tell you the color of the fabric, but I didn’t keep track. I can tell you that it is 16 Aida. Aida is my choice of fabric because I tend to stitch tight and Aida gives me the stability I need. I had her framed in a simple white frame so as not to take away from her beauty. She is a treasured piece and currently hangs on the wall between my kitchen and dining room.
Summer Angel
Good afternoon, my blogging friends. I have another stitched piece to share with you today.
She is Summer Angel by Lavender and Lace. Before I found Mirabilia, I found Lavender & Lace (aka Told in A Garden). I fell in love with her as soon as I saw her and stitched her up in 1994. I love her pink dress. If you know me, then you know I LOVE pink. Even back then. And that she was an Angel pulled me in, too. I remember the beaded garland was a pain to stitch-all confetti stitching. Not my favorite, but am glad I stuck to it. She is a favorite of mine and currently hangs in my dining room. Some day I would like to stitch Angels from the other seasons so that I can change the Angel with the season. I’ll just add that to my list of things “To Stitch, Some Day”. Ha!
Round Robin
I am participating in my first Round Robin and this week I completed my 2nd block. I stitched Winter Maiden for Kathy’s piece and here is what she looks like:
Not the greatest photo, sorry. But she did turn out very nice. I used some threads I hadn’t used before and this fabric was a breeze to stitch on. I will be putting her in the mail on Monday.
Winter Queen
My love for Mirabilia designs came when I first laid eyes on the Winter Queen in 1995. I still remember how it felt the first time I saw that pattern. She was beautiful, elegant, regal and mesmerizing and I knew I had to stitch her right up. Here she is in all her glory:
I loved every stitch I put into her. I didn’t even mind the Whisper thread because it gave her dress that fur look around the edges. The beads were so beautiful and sparkly.
She will always hold a special place in my heart as she was the beginning of a love for the most beautiful patterns to come from Miss Nora Corbett.
The Castle
My second piece I stitched back in 1988 is another one that I did for Hubby. He loves dragons, fairies and wizards. The whole fantasy world. Since I had an easy stitch with the California Raisins, I wanted a challenge. So I went totally hardcore with Teresa Wentzler’s Castle. Here is the finished piece:
I fell in love with how she uses 2 different colored threads to create the shading. This piece was so fun to do. I don’t remember how long it took me to stitch. It is stitched on 14 count Aida in Ivory. The only thing wrong with this piece is that it is framed on sticky board. EEEEKKK! I know, I know. But I am sure that was what was available at the time. I can see bumps on my stitching and it looks horrible. So no close up of this one. Some day I will get it re-framed. This piece used to hang in hubbys office at work. When he switched jobs a few years ago, his space was. much smaller, so he had to pick one piece to hang at work. Some day I will go and take a picture to share with you what piece he chose. I believe that this chart is no longer available to buy in stores, but you can purchase a download here.
Mediterranean Mermaid
Good morning. I am so excited about starting this stitching blog. Today I am going to share with you one of the many projects I am currently working on. She is the Mediterranean Mermaid:
I started her sometime last year and picked her back up again yesterday. I didn’t realize that I am almost done stitching her. Yeah!! When I finish the tail I will go back and add all of the outlining and beads. She is a design form Mirabilia. She is designed by my most favorite designer, Nora Corbett. And mermaids are my favorite. What I like about this design, is that she can be displayed vertically or horizontally. I plan on displaying her horizontally. I will be so happy to add her to my collection. Happy stitching.
