It is 1:10 a.m. and I just couldn’t stop stitching until I completed section 12 of the Passione Ricamo Mystery SAL. And I have to say, that is a lot of hair! Beautiful, gorgeous hair, but a lot of it! Only 4 more sections to go and then finally a mermaid face will be revealed. I can’t wait! I am very proud of myself for keeping up with this one. Section 13 will be released on Monday, so I have a few more days to work on a new project that I started yesterday. I will post more about that project tomorrow. For now it is time for me to get to bed and get some sleep! Sweet Mermaid dreams 🙂

Section 11 Completed and Trunk of Fabrics
Last night I completed section 11 on the Passione Ricamo Mystery SAL. Just in time for section 12 to be released on Monday. It will be more hair. We have already been given a sneak peek. I am so proud of myself for keeping up on this one. I can’t wait to see the mermaid come to life.
I have to share something my hubby purchased for me this week.
It is a beautiful trunk. He bought it at Joann Fabrics. And guess what I put inside??
FABRIC! Yep, all of my Hand Dyes by Stephanie, Under The Sea fabrics, Picture This Plus fabrics and a few Sunny Dyes fabrics and a couple of afghans and towels that can be stitched on. All of my Silk Weaver fabrics are in another container. I am so geeked about my new Trunk of Fabrics! And as you can see, I have room to grow 😉
What are you stitching on today?
I Am Making Stitchy Progress
I finished sections 9 and 10 of the Passione Ricamo SAL#4. I am patiently waiting for step 11 to be released on March 9. Here is how I left my piece:
On the right is the purple mermaid tail! So excited for this one! I love the sparkly waves, too.
I have also put a few stitches into Fairy Dust.
And now I am working on Siren and the Shipwreck. She is really moving along.
She is looking a little ghostly without all of the details. I think once I finish her hair, I will be able to start the back stitching and beading. She has a lot of bling in her. Especially the chandelier. Can’t wait!! She has really been a fun, easy, relaxing stitch and I am loving stitching on her again. Which one of your stitch projects was or is a fun stitch for you?
I Am Making Stitchy Progress, and Adding More!
I can’t believe it is already half way through January 2015! But so far I am doing well with my stitchy goals to work on finishing projects and keeping up with another. I just finished section 7 of the Passione Ricamo SAL #4.
I am really itching to see the mermaid appear on this one. The next section is due out on January 26, so I have some time to stitch on another project I have been working on:
Autumn Snowman! As you can see, I am getting really close to a finish here. I will pick him up tonight and work on him until he is finished. Hopefully soon.
Last weekend I visited my favorite Needlework Shop, Stitches N Things. I belong to the stitchy club there and get to have a 25% off shopping spree once during my birthday month. And since January is my birthday month, I just had to go shop. And boy did I shop. Here is what I actually brought home:
Lots of awesome goodies: Nora Corbett’s Fairie Winter Dream ,even though I have it in magazine version. The magazine pattern is a color pattern, which I am not fond of. I also picked up 2 more of the little witches, Ana and Mari. And the main reason for visiting the shop and using my birthday discount was for Mirabilia’s Christmas In London and the bead pack. This is a gorgeous, gorgeous pattern and I can’t wait to stitch it. I ordered a piece of 16ct White Aida to stitch her on. The latest edition of Stoney Creek magazine called to me because of a particular pattern that caught my eye while flipping through it.
The Snow Friends Collectors’ Series Afghan. I am a sucker for snowmen and I have been thinking about doing an afghan. I love working on an afghan during the winter months. Keeps me warm while I stitch away. So after I checked out at the LNS, and after ordering a bunch more stitchy stuffs (with birthday discout 🙂 ) I headed over to Michael’s to pick up the floss. And to my surprise, found the required afghan there also. It was about 1/2 of the cost of what the magazine wanted and I had a $5 off coupon so that made it even better. It looks like a nice, warm afghan, too. I thought that the first 2 blocks started with this issue, but when looking at the back of the magazine, I saw it actually started with the Summer issue, so I called my LNS and had them order it for me and it will be added to the bag that will be filled with goodies when all of the things they are ordering for me come in. It will be like Christmas again! I’m sure I will be starting this afghan soon, but not until I get a finish 😉
So that is my stitchy updates for now. I will be back soon with a Snowy finish, I’m sure. What new project are you itching to start on?
I’m Fitting Stitching in When I Can…
Hi! I can’t believe that the holidays are upon us! I know that Christmas will be here before I know it, and I am behind in everything. But I am not stressing. I will do what I can, when I can and what gets done is good and what doesn’t, doesn’t. That is my frame of mind right now. I probably won’t get very much holiday stitching done again this year, but that just means I try harder for next year, right? As long as I get stitching in 🙂 So, what have I been working on? The Passione Ricamo SAL #3.
I really, really love stitching on this piece, but it may be time for a break. I recently had to rip out the words “Fairies Dwell Here..” and the tree to the right of it and the box on the bottom right. When I switched pages between the “r” in Fairies, I dropped down a line and and added an extra stitch. So when I stitched all the way across and started connecting the tree top to the upper tree, things were off a stitch up and to the right 😦 I couldn’t find my mistake and had to ask dear hubby to help. He found both of my mistakes. So the ripping out began. But it is all just about put back in and it’s looking wonderful. On Friday I received steps 3-6 of Passione Ricamo’s SAL #4. Here is how that one is looking after step 2, minus the beading. I will save that until last.
This one is going to be a mermaid!! So excited for this one and I am hoping to keep up with the steps on this one. A also finished stitching my first Christmas ornament of this year and have purchased everything I need to finish it into an ornament. Usually I just make pillows, but this year I am going to try my hand at a real finish. I will post when I get it done. I also added a few new things to my stash thanks to shopping Small Business Saturday this last weekend. I will post those next time also. So, what you are you stitching for the holidays this year?
I Am Stitching
I haven’t posted in a bit, but I am still stitching. I started the Passione Ricamo Mystery Stitch A Long and here is my very small progress:
Not very much, but I wanted to get it started. I wasn’t sure the colors of the castle would show up on my fabric, so I wanted to put a few stitches in, put it on the scroll frame and have it ready for when I can work on it again. The colors are a little muted, but that’s ok as it is supposed to look like it is in the distance. I couldn’t put it down and this is how far I got in an evening. I am stitching it on 16ct Aida, Nantucket Sky from Stephanie and I think it is going to look marvelous! I can’t wait to see what it will turn out to be???
I am also stitching on a project I can’t share at the moment, but someday I will be able to. So just know that I am stitching. How many projects are you working on?
A Journey Into the Deep-Progress
In my last post I told you I pulled out my Passione Ricamo mermaid. Here is my progress so far:
Sorry it’s not the best picture. And now looking at it, it seems I haven’t made much progress even though I am on step 4. I don’t think it will be done in a month, so I may have to purchase another large frame to put the new Mystery SAL on. Here is how this mermaid will look when I am finished:

Just beautiful, don’t you think? This is available to purchase on the Passione Ricamo site. As you can see, I have a ways to go.
I also purchased 2 more of her designs:
They are so beautiful! I am happy to add them to my small PR collection.
So, what are you stitching on today?
There’s a New SAL Coming!
I finished my last Round Robin last week. I am taking a break from Round Robins for a while to do some personal stitching. I can’t post it yet until the recipient receives it, but I will when that happens.
So I picked up my Ella to stitch on for a few nights…stitch and rip, stitch and rip. Then I heard the news that Passione Ricamo was opening a new Stitch-A-Long. It is open now to purchase and, YES, of course I am going to do it! I haven’t finished the last Mermaid SAL, but YES I want to do another one! So I signed up and received my list of materials. We have no idea what it is, but it is to celebrate the designers 20 years designing. I know it will be beautiful. I already have my fabric and threads:
I had purchased this fabric from Stephanie for Lavender & Lace’s Angel of Spring. It is Nantucket Sky in 16ct Aida. But when I was getting ready to start it, I was afraid the wings would not show up well. Passione Ricamo’s Laura, suggested a few of Stephanie’s hand dyed fabrics for the SAL and Nantucket Sky was one of them. And luckily I have a 26 x 36 piece as according to the stitch count, I will need a 25 x 33.5 piece. I can’t wait to see how a PR design looks on Aida. I am so excited about this SAL. If you are interested in joining, you have time. The first section won’t be released until March 25th, so there is still time to go to the Passione Ricamo site and sign up.
So I pulled out the Mermaid SAL last night and decided I need to get that going and hopefully finish as I will need the scroll frame it is on. I will post a picture of my mermaid progress later this week. You can see my original start on this one here. Have you ever done a Stitch A Long?
Keeping up with the SAL
I finished block 1 of the Passione Ricamo Mystery Stitch A Long.
One and a half fish and some hair. Section 2 is due out on July 1, so I am very happy that I am finished section 1. I’ve seen a sneak peek of section 2 and there is about as much stitching as section 1, so I should be able to keep up with no problem.
I also started Mirabilia’s Siren and the Shipwreck.
She is being stitched on Sunny Dyes Under the Sea in 16ct Aida. I will have to take a photo of the full piece of fabric. Or you can see it at Sunny Dyes website. The bottom is hand painted. Love it! When I saw it I knew it was for Siren. This scroll frame has my lovely covers that Karen made for me. Isn’t she a sweetie? Here is a closer shot of my progress and what she will look like in the end:
That is what I have been up to. Thank you for visiting.
Galatea
Hello. I’m obsessed with wanting hand dyed fabric right now. I see other stitchers blog posts showing some beautiful hand dyes and I want some. My local shops don’t have much to offer and maybe deep down I am really looking for some hand dyed Aida. I have only stitched on hand dyed once and here is what I stitched:
She is Passione Ricamo’s Galatea mermaid. I stitched this piece in 2009 on 28 ct Griffon from Sugar Maple fabrics. I believe that Sugar Maple is no longer in business and I remember it taking about 3 1/2 months to get my fabric. I recently told someone I thought it might be Silkweaver, but I just found my info on this piece and it was Sugar Maple fabrics that I had so much trouble with. So I have been a little leery about ordering hand dyes ever since. But I see so many beautiful fabrics on-line and I’m really itching to get some. I love the colors on this fabric and I am pleased with how Galatea turned out.
Last weekend when I visited my LNS, she recommended Picture this Plus as a good place to find some really nice hand dyes. I checked them out and they do have some fabulous lovelies! I’ll have to start making a list. I did pick up a piece of hand dyed last weekend and Hubby was so sweet and purchased 2 pieces of hand dyed fabric a couple of weeks ago. I will post them this weekend.
